are we talking the 2/3 of the total Mah?

ie a 6s 3000Mah 2/3 ie put 2000Mah back in?

i have a 6s 2800Mah pack flew for 5 mins and put 2300Mah back in is this ok or to much ?????
yet it was still reading 3.7v per cell before the recharge

any advice would be a huge help

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		Never heard about a 2/3rds rule but most use the 80% rule. That is that you should never use more than 80% of the rated capacity. So on a 2200mAh pack you would try to use less than 1760mAh, measured when you recharge the pack. Looking at your usage, 80% of 2800mAh is 2240mAh so you are technically using more than 80%.

I personally don't use any rule, I use results to drive how much I use from a pack. First I feel the pack after a run and make sure that I am not running it too hot. If so I limit my time some. Then there is the performance loss at the end of a pack. Those that just hover won't notice as much but those of us who toss the heli around really notice the pack drop off at the end. That is a signal that it is low enough. Lastly I do watch the mAh replaced.

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		I used to follow all the rules about running in lipos and keeping to the 80% rule etc.... But after having lipos fail after 20 charges and loose their punch after 50 I no longer bother. In fact I've had better lipo lifespans ignoring the rules.. What I do however is to keep within the 1c charge rate for safety.

That's got nothing to do with the 80% rule, you need to buy a higher quality battery!

I've always obeyed the 80% rule and have batteries that are 2.5 years old and still have the same run time and punch as new.

80/20 (aka 80% rule).

Take out no more then 80% of the total battery mah on each flight.

Example 3S 2200mah battery for a 450. When charging the battery back up after a flight you should not put back in more then 1800mah.

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		If you stick to the 80% rule use a good charger and dont use your li-po's in freezing conditions your li-pos will last hundreds of cycles, if they dont then the battery was bad right from when you bought it. If you use the 80% rule you will notice that upon recharging the voltage will be almost exactly at the packs nominal voltage when you first plug it into the charger i.e. 11.1v for a 3 cell.

waiting for the LCV to kick in is a bad idea maybe do it once on a timer to figure your max flight time then Minus a minute ( but that 1 time may puff your lipo )

Hoping to get a 350 watt charger someday soon, My 50 watt charging a 6S1p 5000mah takes forever @ 2.17 amps < 1/2 C
I put back 4000 mah after a 6 min flight

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		I follow the 80% rule,watch the temps after flight,and generaly follow all the standard rules,along with this I charge at 2 or 3C(been doing this 2+ years)and I get at least 200 cycles out of a battery,some in the 300-400 range.this is several manufacturers also
