Hello guys,

It has been a while since i managed to finish up a new helicopter. school has been a killer (they say i'll become an electronics engineer soon ) and im busy flying the jets and tutoring RC pilots, but here goes !

I saw the Aeolus 50 some time ago, and was impressed by the reviews. thinking this sounds like a great 50 size, i decided to get one.

Well, I just managed to finish my new Aeolus 50 CF. the build was very straight forward as expected with a good fit of all parts.

Since AHF does not have a Flybarless head YET, i decided to modify my own and be able to fly my Aeolus flybarless.

This consists of manufacuring (by CNC):
- longer pitch arms
- new washout block
- modify existing washout arms
- new tray for bottom of front plastic tray, to hold the FBL system

This heli (as can be seen on the pics) is bone stock with the exception of a header tank (i like header tanks ) and carries:

- OS 55 HZ
- GP Exhaust NP55 muffler
- SWE main and tail blades
- Pro-RC Rondo FBL system
- JR 8717 cyclic servos, 9257 throttle and Logictech 6100G tail servo
- Multigov pro governer
- Fromeco A123 pack
- Fromeco Kiwi regulator providing un regulated 6.6V to the cyclic servos, everything else runs on 5V
- Futaba R608HS Rx / 14MX Fasst Tx

Hope you like the pics. any comments \ remarks are always welcome, and i hope to post some videos of this helicopter in flight soon !

Enjoy !

Welcome to our Aeolous 50 3D family as well. Great job on your FBL conversion. The pics are awesome. Keep us informed with any updates as to your FBL version of the Aeolus 50 3D.

How does the OS55 compare to other motors that you have used in the past?

Here are 2 videos from today:

Maiden flight - this was the first time this heli went to the air:

Flight #5:

These flights were just breaking in the new OS 55 motor without tuning the flybarless system yet..

i will tune the flybarless system some more and then make some better ones, so this is only the start

Hello guys,

Update:

Yesterday i was flying with very low gains, which is the beggining point of the Rondo setup (100% on screen). i didnt want to raise them until i break in the motor a bit, so that happend only today.

I flew her again today, and started raising the gains in the Rondo little by little.

Ended up at 105% cyclic gain (on my 14MZ end point menu - probably around 200% in Rondo) and 65-70% tail gain with no hunting on any of the 3 axis, and the helicopter feels very locked, crisp, precise and solid in flight now - im impressed !
it is also much more powerful and faster in FFF than 50 size flybar equipped machines.

Overall i am very impressed with the FBL conversion and the results i got from it, and am uploading a video from today soon - i was wiggling it pretty good today (4 flights today, 9 flights overall on the heli so far).

To conclude it - i think im hooked on this FBL !

I bet you end up putting that 55 back in, I have flown both and the 55 smokes the 60.

Let us know how you like it!
