This old BCPP heli with a new stock eflite BCPP2 main motor gave me a surprise performance today. Here is the spec sheet with several simple mods: BCPP2 Brushed Main Motor - Stock S75s servos- Stock 3in1 & receiver- Stock FM radio- GWS brushed 12X30 tail motor mounted on a CP Pro 2 tail motor mount inverted so the motor is cooled by the prop- GWS tail fin mounted on the boom just ahead of the motor mount- Telebee HH gyro (under $50)- Wood blades. Today was the 1st time I really flew it outside of my backyard. The tail held in all aerobatic maneuvers like front and back flips, rolls, rolling to inverted, flipping to inverted, and inverted pirouettes. The remote gain is set at 100% and there's a little wag but who cares if the tail holds with every move. Everything works together even if it is all mediocre stuff and nothing about it is outstanding. There are no weak links I just didn't expect too much and was very pleased.

No Gnut it's a cheap brushed tail by GWS and it holds fine. I have been saying for two years now that the motor should be located on the side of the prop that it is cooled by the air blown over it (right side looking from behind). I think that is why I don't burn up tail motors. I do have three other BCPPs that are BL main and BL tail so I understand the difference between them. The new eflite BCPP2 main motor is the reason this thing does well and the tail completely keeps up.

I hear you

Hey, I've been raving about my stocker BCPP v2 for years. Great little machine for backyard thrashing. Bone stock, no mods needed. . . . .

Hey, it ain't a Beam E4 but it ain't supposed to be!!

Hey BOB WHO ?
Interesting comment on the GWS tail motor. Most people think they are junk, or no better than stock. I bought a GWS DD kit a year ago. The kit came with motor,3020 prop( press on) , and vertical fin / motor mount. The motor is mounted on the right side of the heli. I had one of these motors last for 135 flights.(I just do basic flight). Had another last 90 or so. Just for S's and grins, try hooking the GWS motor to the stock gear drive. The tail response is even better than the DD. Pull a gear off a stock motor and drill it out with a #53 drill bit( if memory serves) and press it on the motor. The only problem is dealing with the larger prop hitting the ground or grass or what ever.

Hi Mitch
Now this little heli is doing what it is supposed to do like you have been saying yours does, it's the right combo probably by complete accident. How long has the new version been out Mitch? I thought only about a year, have you had it that long? Time flies.

Hi Gary
I like the DD set-up and have been happy with even this GWS tail motor when mounted as I have done. Not long ago Mitch told me that he heard that the eflite DD tail motor was different than the GWS 1050. He was right it looks better than the GWS (I got one) but until I trash the one I am using I'll keep it for a spare. The BCPP2 main motor is the biggest improvement over the original brushed motor.

Guilty of exagerating again!!

I've probably had the BCPP2 for about a year, maybe just less than that. I bought mine from a guy who bought it soon after release.

Sounds like fun. I set up a bone stock CPPro with no gyro for my father in law. No gyro. I flew it around like I used to only with the 3n1's rate gyro. What a blast. Couldn't go to far. We put on a g90 and off we went around the yard. Neat to get back into the good old flying days. I had my Gws DD tail motor mounted on the cooling side of the motor. I bought a slew of those old Gws DD motors to test. I could burn one up just holding right rudder. It overheated it and fried. That was with a prop under load. I soon realized when the heli is flying the motor runs cooler with then less load and seemed to get 60 or 70 flights on it. With the G90 it held very well. I logged alot of flight with that setup. I should put one back together, I have the parts. Still have tons of Gws tail motors left over.

Yes you should Jojo, but do yourself an favor and get the BCPP2 motor. This brushed motor is fantastic! It comes with an 8T pinion, bolts right in, and costs $15 from Horizon. This motor allows the old BCPP with the GWS DD tail (right side) and a Telebee HH gyro to do flips and inverted stuff that the old main motor could not do. Get that main motor, you'll be surprised.

Actually I do have the CPP2. I love it. I have too much CPPro stuff! I should put one together. Maybe a G110 gyro too. With the old gray canopy. Once I finish the double brushless.

That's how I ended up with 3 BL models and the 1 BCPP converted to a V2. Start building! All you need is time, the most precious and rare commodity.

I'm probably going to give my Pro2 to my brother even though I love it.

Looks like I'm probably going to get a Novus CP and I just don't need 4 helis!

I don't need 9 helis either, so what does that have to do with anything? We're sick Mitch let's face it. Admitting it is the 1st step to recovery.

You know this stock BCPP with the V2 motor has the old stock eflite servos. This old bird handles really well even with them. I guess no component is very good so every mediocre element works well together on this one.
