Today while flying my N9 I gave a hard right cyclic input and then hard back elevator. I noticed the heli did a quick pitch pump and tilted to one angle as if a servo had gone out. I roll it back over and notice I have no pitch control and immediately hit throttle hold. I safely managed to get it on the ground and walked to the model when I then realized that I had somehow snapped the stock anti-rotation guide. I always felt that this part was more along the lines of bling since to my knowledge there really hasnt been a problem with people using them for 3d flying. Well I now have an entirely different perspective in regards to this part and from now on will using an after market guide. I would recommend you do the same or gamble on as I have inadvertantly been doing. stay safe...

Are you sure your washout arms didn't take it out?
This can happen if your linkage lengths are not correctly set.

I've seen many guys cut the outer hole off the washout arms but it isn't necessary if the linkage lengths are correct.

I would agree that it was probably a rotating part that took it out. I've been flying the stock plastic guide for hundreds of flights and have had no failures.

I'm using the hyper levers/arms. You raise a valid point but there seems to be no way at all with the sticks jammed in any corner at full pitch negative and positive that indicates any kind of fouling. Another sign that leads me to believe it snapped due to strain is because one half of the anti rotation guide remains and that half is the closest end to the direction of which the head and blades spin. It seems if contact was the reason why it snaped then it would have either taken out the half closest to the direction of rotation or taken the whole thing off.

One thing I recent noticed on a build I did on a used machine is the previous owner had used the wrong size bearing that rides in the anti-rotation bracket guide. The O.D. was too large and there was binding/drag there. Something to check.

I agree, since you are using the Hyperlevers it's unlikely that the arms hit the guide. How about full positive and full negative collective? Was/is there any binding there?

You can loosen the bolts that hold the guide to the frames and move the guide back. This would cause the levers to hit the bracket. How long have you been flying the N9? I have never broken the guide adn i dont know of anyone else how has (unless it was a crash). I would check you throws as well.

I would have to agree that the stock guide does work great and it's a not $32.00 which is also attractive. The stock guide has served its purpose well for me for hundreds of hard flights it's just this time it didn't. Luckily the bird came down unharmed from the failure. That kind of failure could have devastating results from such a simple yet vital piece so I was fortunate in the outcome. There are reasons for believing it failed due to stress that seem logical and practical. On the other hand it also could have failed just because plastic is plastic and any given plastic part can be failure prone at any given time.I know one thing though an after market guide is getting installed as soon as it arrives. This incident I suppose is one for the books as a WTF...
