If you have a newer computer (one year old or newer) it should work fine.

G5 is expected at the end of the month so you may want to consider waiting until it's available.

Your computer can be older and still run it, but you have to have a certain level of graphics capability to do so whether your PC is new or old. It requires a 3D accelerated video card with a minimum of 32MB of video memory, which ain't much. But if your PC's video is integrated in the mainboard and it's a few years old it may not run it at all, or run it too poorly to play.

System requirements are listed on their website.

I have G3.0 and G3.5 on a couple of PC's and one laptop and they run it great. But these systems will also play video games well. That's really the test. If your system won't play video games like Crysis or FEAR or Modern Warfare it may not do too well with Real Flight.

My 6+ year old computer with a ATI 126MB video card and 1 gig of memory runs G4.5 fine. You need a good video card with any new or older PC to run it.I just upgraded to a Dell P4 PC with a Geforce 256MB video card and it runs everything the same but uploads everything faster.

Trex 600N/hyper 50/MP5, Revmax,Spartan DS760/JR DS8900G,3 Align DS610's.

The G4.5 system requirements are listed at the link below. I am running in excess of what they consider the optimal system and it works well. However, be careful treading below the optimal system requirements.

I had heard that as well but I think somewhere in another thread the fight was on as to whether that was true. The last time I had checked it, it was not and that to upgrade it would cost $80.00.

Regardless. I bought 4.5, there are several add-on's that ARE free for the owners of 4.5. The expansion packs are not free. You can also get add-on models from the Knife Edge forums to add your own birds. From what I have been reading, 5.0 only has more multiplayer capabilities and of course a few different birds & flying fields.

I cannot speak for anyone but myself when I say this but: I didn't buy the darn thing to fly with multiple people on a computer, I bought it to help hone in on flying skills and keep up the pace over the non-flying days. I don't see the point of buying a newer one that touts small differences. 4.5 is awsome IMO.

Regards, Brandon

If you purchase RealFlight G4.5 after October 1, 2009 the upgrade is free. If you purchased it after August 1, 2009 then it will cost $29.99. Below is the form to apply for the upgrade. Option A after August 1. Option B after October 1.

Did anyone actually read the upgrade form? The last line says:

"Please allow four to six weeks for processing."

Seems to me that the fastest way to get G5 is to wait until it becomes available. However, your mileage may vary.
