You can just cut it on the ground once the governor is up to speed.

How much time is on the plug?? Not much if I had to guess, Looks like your just a tad rich, but if this is a new engine, or new plug,(I've slept sence then,) Then, I would just leave it alone for a few more tanks, while keeping an eye on the plug ever tank or so, then adjust it from there,, XGM/VGM

Well a gallon sure is enought to change the plug completly, so mabe you are a tad lean, I would try richening it first to see how it acts, then go from there,, XGM/VGM

Wow what a neopolition plug !

I can only think that motor is a breathing good! She be a smokin!

You running a velocity stack ? and what type of exhaust ??

Maybe Z Cody can chime in - he likes tuned pipe's maybe he's seen one like it .

Intake side cooler than the exhaust side which is burned cleaned.

Sign of a hot rod.

I'd kinda pull the rein's in that girl likes to run a bit.

When I pull the plug I’m seeing a slightly rich setting on the carb side of the plug but on the exhaust side it still looks like new, is this normal?

My guess is you are rich on one needle and lean on the other. My second guess is the low is rich and the high is lean or right on the edge of perfection. On a hot day you could be in trouble. Do you see any build up on the ring? If you start too rich and then cook it off you might get a sticky ring problem.

Below is a picture of the muffler I'm running, the needle settings are as follows, Low is 1-1/2 and the High is 1-3/8th and like I mentioned before the piston is in pristine condition.
The engine had four gallon run through it before fitting the governor and the motor (231PUH Standard) is now running at 11000 rpm with a head speed of 1900.

I do have a Century V3 Muffler I could fit it you guys think it would be better suited but I like the look of this Muffler I’m using and it’s pretty quiet.

You will suffer power, for quietness,,, Try the V-3 to see if you can tell the differance, You will probley have to do a slight needle adjustment when changing the mufflers.. Good luck,, XGM/VGM

That seems backwards to me. Is this a 643 or 644 carb?

You're probably not in trouble with the Lo set as rich as it is, but with 1900 RPM headspeed in warm weather it could be on the edge with the Hi needle. Usually, if it's too lean on the Hi, it will stutter or stall on a fast climb-out. Just my 2-cents. . .

I will try the V3 that but first I would like to get the settings right with the muffler I have and then compare it with the V3.

The carb is a 643, I was getting a little splutter on climb out if I backed the throttle stick off to idle but if I throttled off too the hover point it was fine, maybe your right the high might need backing out slightly, I will try adjusting it next time I’m out in normal mode and see if it helps.

Hi Richard
I was hoping you would fly it soon but last night I re wired the Heli for the generator only to find out its not working and I’m not sure if it will be working for the weekend, if I can’t find a simple short or loose wire it means getting a new bit for the US, secondly I can’t fine anyone that has a Video recorder they want to lend me

About the smoke
It always smokes when cold and I’m not sure if you’ve noticed but I always run it up to head speed slowly and wait for the smoke to clear before I fly it.

I might try and get the 600G out of the graveyard for the weekend if I can’t sort the Generator; I am talking with Raja who makes the Jewel so fingers crossed.

Well it didn’t work out to well this weekend, adjusting the high out made the motor splutter on climb out more than it does now and adjusting the low out made it very hard to start so I guess I was just about right with the needles before.

The main problem was with the carb and I’ve been having this problem ever since I bought the engine, it works fine but after a couple of flights it just won’t pump flue and the primer bulb wont work either until it cools down then the bulb will prime again.

I have a parts carb (643)

I'll send it to you with the rubber shrink tubing tomorrow. I changed out the body as the throttle stem was worn, but you can use the bulb from it if that helps.

Hi Raja
I’m not sure if changing the bulb would help as I have two carb's and they both act in the same way when they get warm, I’m going the try redirecting the heat by gluing a plastic plate on the shroud and see if it helps (see below)
I'm beginning to think the diaphragm material has been change, what else in the carb could stop working when it gets warm and work again when cool?
