I have been watching one fly around in a Pantera this weekend. It was running rich and it was still kicking out the power with no issues.

Please do not spend your money on a extra .05cc You should just get to a bbc and enjoy the rush.

I'm enjoying the .05cc without BBC, drop in fit and was easily powering well past the OS-61WC flying with me today...oh...and lighter too than the BBC.

You'd be a smart to invest in a Tower Super Savers club...they "give" you a $60 break on the street price of $300 and ship it for free.

Buy an OS-55 Hyper...make all your friends jaws drop and let you smile on the drive home.

lotta ins, lotta outs

New OS HZ55

I traded a Beam E4 for mine. So now I have 3 Pantera's. 1st 1 with OS 50 Hyper, 2nd 1 gets the new OS 55HZ, and the 3rd 1 has a OS 91 BBC!!. The 1st 1 is going in a scale Century MD 500E. Man I can't wait to get all 3 flying!

Crash em if you got em!!!!

Give the .55 a chance to be main stream and no doubt the price will tumble. $300 US right now to have one is just silly.

The .55 refers to cubic inches. A .50 size engine is about 8.2cc, the .55 engine displaces about 9.0cc.

Along with the 10% increase in displacement, OS is claiming durable, corrosion proof bearings, and improved, revised porting. If it's as good (relatively speaking) as my .91HZ, it should be substantially improved compared with it's predecessor.

BBC power is big fun, but the ship would handle better with a lighter engine, and pipe. Consider where in the airframe those two components reside. They contribute to a noticeably lower CG, not a good thing for aerobatic properties.

Nailed it.

And you can get 8 minutes of hard 3D + 3 more minutes of FAI type hovering/flight on a single tank with no header.

I agree with the theory but that assumes the CG is centered with a 50 size engine to begin with. Do we know if that is the case? If the CG is a little high, the BBC could help the situation.

OK, I will give the motor a go once the price drops.
Do we need to change pipes or will the MPII still work?

I don't know the MP2 so I dont know how it flows. Convince yourself that you think it can flow a little more and you'll likley be ok. You could always try it and as long as it tunes ok, doesnt overheat, and doesnt sound all plugged up you'd be ok. Personally I'd move to the MP5 which everyone seems to agree is a better pipe than the MP2 AND is appropriate for the .55.

Hi all

It arrived today ACE,so ive read the few posts about pipes and on that point the following question, will the os.55 tune with the standard pipe supplied with the pantera or shall i go with a hatori,os,align or outrage pipe or mp5.I am quiet partial to going with the os or hatori pipe myself.

Kind regards

See the video link on the freak with my OS-55 & Audacity pipe...tunes just fine and plenty of power. That's OS #7 & CY-30% and the 1st "dialed" flight...previous flight was a heat cycle & needle tweeker

I'd guess that many of the existing muff/pipes will run fine...as to whether there's an advantage to the new pipes for the 55 (like to OS) who knows.

ah...here's the link
