Had the day off today and headed to the field for a few test flights.
The Field was crunchy this morning. Yea!
We will be in the low 20's tonight and 40's for Saterday.
I love flying this time of year. The air is so dang thick, and the BBC's are so happy.
Can't wait for the first snow to fall in the next few weeks. The flying gets better and better.
So long thin air of summer! We live for winter flying as the air gets closer to sea level in our neck of the woods.

I agree, winter flying is great. We have a bit more than some frost on the field here on the eastern slope:

looks like I won't have to pull the floats off my cub after all, if I want to fly it this weekend.

We are soaked here in Indiana and Ohio. The leaves are just turning. I find myself being pulled to the flying field more often as well.

What a great day. Temps in the 40's with a wind chill of 32.
Funky winds played with the planks..even my U Can Do sporting a .91 four stroke. Yet the stock Pantera and the BBC II flew without a problem. Yankin and cranking the ships without a care.
Time to charge up for Sunday. Snow is just a few flights away.

Oh sure, rub it in.

Actually it has melted. We are still trying to get some flights in before winter settles in.

We finally got a dry week but with heavy winds and of course as the weekend approaches, it's supposed to rain. It's just cold enough to make THAT a miserable combination.

73 degrees and 93 percent humidity here in Houston. Pretty far from frost on the ground.

Thats why i moved to Florida. After spending years on the DEW line (Distant Early Warning) and seeing snow almost year round, I moved to Florida. Yep, you are right.

I fly down to 5 above, and only till my thumbs are numb! Plastic parts get to brittle below 5. I have a buddy who uses floats and they work great on the snow.

No frost for the weekend. Just high winds 40+ and rain.
I'm thinking it's going to be a good day to travel to the LHS and buy another case of fuel. Sunday is the day regardless of the snow falling.
