Rave. Quality is the best, killer design, best performing 450 on the market, best customer service on the market, however its a bit pricey but worth it.

the Pro is right up there with it, good design, flys awesome, cheap, but poor quality and no customer service.

hope this helps.

I just got a Pro, so I have a little experience with it. I have never flown or worked on a Rave but I do like them.

That said the Pro is definitely not a toy. In other words it is not a good learning heli. It is really designed for hard fliers that already have skills. It requires serious head speed just to fly right and you can't tame it down much. This makes it very agile and fast but not fun to fly if you are just learning. Also it is way more difficult to work on than older Rexs do to its super compact design.

In a comparison I personally would nod to the Rave for several reasons. It is designed for 4s setups and swinging 350mm blades. The layout is very nice and the size in the air is larger than any other 450. That said it is quite expensive.

I choose the Pro for price and parts availability but those are the only reasons why.

Yep, I've not flown it, but the Rave is bigger, and from what I hear and see of the people flying it, it needs the 4's and the bigger blades.

So then, is it really a 450? If you want bigger, why not a 500?

Cause Align is a douchebag and called its 425mm blade heli a 500, thus introducing a wrinkle in the naming scheme

I bought a Beam. Nice machine, but now I wish I'd have waited and gotten a Rave due to the flexibility in blade sizes and everything I've read about the people behind the company. Plus...CY's the man!!

Yes, it really is a 450. It's stretched for the 350mm blades and mostly has a bigger canopy. It is a good bit smaller then the 500.

And of course you need 6-cell packs for the 500. Different animals.

I have both the Rave and the Pro. Haven't gotten the chance to fly the snot out of my Rave yet but I sure do love my pro. Best flying 450 I have ever flown

The quality of the Pro is a lot better than the older trex models in my opion. Allen and Jason really redesign the trex 450 pro to be a great heli. I like the tail setup. There is no TT gear mesh to adjust or worry about and I haven't had one single failure with my pro yet and I have put over 50 flights on it now. No wear on the gears at all.

Pro:
-Really stable
-Faster cyclics
-Easy to work on
-Cheaper to fix in a crash (maybe because I already have a whole bunch of spare parts just in case for a mishap )

Con:
-a few hate the way the servos mount on. To me it's not a con because hey who needs to change out the servos on a daily basis Set it and forget it. If the crash is that bad to strip out a servo you will prob need to change out the main bearings anyways.
-Can't run 350mm blades
-The canopy could be redesigned to be bigger up front to fit thicker packs. And the canopy does look small in the air. Could be bigger like the Rave but thats me.

The quality of the Rave is about the same as the Pro to me. The frames are thinner but if you don't crash it will not be a problem. The TT gears seems to be weaker than the pro in my opinion. The gears have smaller teeth than the pro so thats prob why they are slightly weaker but they do run a little bit smoother than the pro. But again as long as you don't touch the tail on grass or the ground you won't have a problem. The gear mesh is tricky to set up if you never own a TT setup before. You have to get them meshed just right or you'll be stripping gears.

Pro:
-Really smooth. Slightly more stable than the Pro but that's about all I can say since I haven't had the chance to fully test my Rave yet.
-Feels bigger in the air
-Canopy easy to see Has a bigger presence in the air
-Able to run 3s-6s setup with 315mm blades-350mm blades with no mods
-The best customer service before and after the sale. They really take care of you if you have any problems. Thats a big plus to me.

Con:
-TT gears seem to strip easy if you don't set the mesh right
-Frame tends to break near the motor mount in a crash. (they are working on frame stiffeners which should be out soon)
-Can't really compare the Rave on 4s to a Pro because once you setup the Rave on 4s it's a whole different beast! YEs this is a con because it's not fair to compare the 4s Rave to a 3s Pro

I prob left out a few other things on both heli's

I have owned both and I only kept one. The align 450 pro is the winner hands down. The rave took 3 times longer to build. The quality of the kit was a joke. I needed a dremmel, a bag of shims, and had a swash that was not tapped deep enough to accept the balls. I called support they explained I would need to mail them my questionable swash for them to inspect and then if the swash was deemed faulty they would send me a new one. I was like wow I can get customer service like this from anywhere . The only thing positive I have to say about the rave is that the tail works very well when setup correctly, although setting it up to work smoothly takes some tinkering. The trex 450 pro is stupid easy to build, extremely durable, easy to maintain, and flys very very well.

I have owned dozens of 450s in past 3 years. T-rexes, Furions, Raves and the latest Pro.

Personally I am one to judge by how the heli flies, period not much else. To me the 450 Pro has been my favourite out of all of them. I am working on converting a 450 Pro and Rave to flybarless at the moment to compare them with this respect and see how it goes.

As for a direct comparison to flybar to flybar I feel the Pro flies better in 3D, more axial and predictable. Some may of course be reading and screaming they think I myself may not know how to setup a heli correctly, well I can assure that is not the case as between my own, friends and many I've helped with probably over a hundred by now I am sure.

Each has their pros and cons so it is up to you what you like. Raves customer support is surely top shelf with online help like Brian to make things right. However that being said I have not had any issues at all with the Pro, the TT gears hold up alot better then my Raves have that is for sure, Rave is apparently coming out with better TT gears soon so I'll give those a go and that part may be handled. I suspect the Rave will fly much better for me once I have the Mini Vbar on it as well.

I am not affiliated with either Aligh or Next D.

I thought I was the only one who thinks the Pro flies better than the Rave They both have their own advantages. I like to fly in tight spots doing mostly 3D (basic stuff) and the pro is really predictable. I agree with OICU812 on that part. It handles so well that I don't see how the Rave can be any better. The Rave does fly much smoother in FF compared to the Pro.

Rave tracks much better, hence giving it superb big air flight....makes sense since the designed of the Rave (CY) is a king at big air flight....

however, i would have tosay that with 350's and 4S the Rave is much better for stick banging than the pro....you get much more stability, hangtime, and pop.

hope this helps.

Mikado has the same deal as well with their numbering system for some of their helis. Why don't you whine about them too?

Mikado Logo 400, hopefully ready by spring.

I did not like the Rave, The sheet for all the fixes was almost as thick at the manual. The head just seems like a copy of the Raptor, with 4S and 350's it flew fine, but never got the CG right. Just did nothing for me...
Pro has not arrived yet....we'll see...
