Wow. I didn't know the wings rotated 90 degrees for storage!

And the blades fold back!

Wonder how old those pics are? Thought they scraped that project.

Man that's pretty sweet!

After seeing a perfectly flying V-22 Model in Texas I'd love to get one.

Hootowl,
thanks for sharing those, they are awesome. One of the guys I went to school with flies those over in Afghanistan. He just came home for the first time in 5 years. I've been talking with his Dad trying to get some pictures. He said he has thousands of pictures of the V-22 in action. As soon as I get some I will post them.

Looks cool, but trust me- I work on it- and I wouldn't reccommend it to anyone. The only reason it survived after conception was politics. All 50 states make a part for it.

I'm a Crewchief on the USAF birds. We change gearboxes and multitudes of other fun bell-boeing inspired Maintenance. I'm just not in love with it. Neat factor is a +10, especially the blade fold/wing stow, full glass cockpit, composite rotor heads. But it kills me it's been around 20 some years and we're still working bugs out of it. Seems to me it's another contractor milking the government scenario.

Cool pics, especially the ones stacked up on deck!

I think they are very cool, never seen one in person yet.. If they loose an or both) engine, will they glide/auto?? Always wondered about that...

No auto like you are thinking, but the blades are made to "broom" when they contact the ground in a high speed glide. They would have to lose both motors, as the rotors are connected with interconnecting shafting allowing one motor to run both rotors. Did I mention all composite driveshafts?
