Hi there. I just got a 2nd hand century hawk and was warned that he noticed fuel foaming in his last flight (when he was hovering), but he noticed no vibrations on the heli.

I was hoping someone could help explain what might cause the fuel to foam in the tank and perhaps fix it. I saw in another forum that low frequency vibration causes this?? wheres it coming from?

The list is long on that one. 1st check all fuel system lines, especially the clunk line inside the tank and the brass lines going thru the tank bung. Honestly if I didnt KNOW all the lines were 100% good, Id go ahead and change all of em, $5 well spent. 2nd, overly rich mix can cause excessive vibration and weather change necessitates tune adjustments, so that could cause it. 3rd, change the main blades to a known good set. Then maybe but unlikely a torque tube bearing and or bad bearing in the tail assembly. After that, you are looking at a frame split, bent or "spun" shaft, and/or a bad bearing. Items 1, 2, and 3, are most likely the others fall in line with easiest to eliminate. Good luck with your search, some times these can be a real pain to track down. If you are not running a header tank you might want to consider installing one if only till you can get this tracked down. A header tank will help protect your motor from needless leaning in and out due to air in the fuel.
Its gonna be a process of elimination so you need to get into the mind set of KNOWING for sure each possibility can not be the problem.
Of course some times you get Lucky and its the first thing you check!

The good ole times are now ,Hawk, Raven, Raven NX, Logo 10

When my Hawk Pro is fuel foaming I make the engine richer.

This would not eliminate bent shaft - bearings problems but it is a easy first thing to try.

First try 3/8 of a turn richer on the low speed mixture if if still foaming try 2-4 click richer on the high speed mixture. I presume you have a OS 37.

Work’s every time on mine.

I got this tip from OLD FART when he test flew my machines.

Fuel foaming is caused by a high frequency vibration.

I wll bet that Skybolt has it right. In the Hawk, 95% of the time this is caused by running the engine too lean in the hover. So one must richen the idle screw, as this effects the half throttle opening fuel flow more then does the main needle.
