I flew my Pantera yesterday for the first time. Some minor blade tracking adjustments and it hovered great, very smooth and quiet. I am breaking in the engine, Hyper 50, and keeping it rich. After breakin, what headspeed is recommended for the Pantera, in normal mode and, idle up 1? Also could I get some input on what everybody is using for throttle and pitch curves. Right now mine is just straight linear with about 2 degrees pitch at midstick. Thanks in advance for your help.

Hover 1600-1700 (below 1600 you may find it gets "wobbly"

Idle 1 1850

Idle 2 1950 (really the sweet spot)

Your throttle curves will be actual curves...not linear.

Hover with 5 points could be:

0
45
52
58
100

Idle-up with 5 points
100
58
52
58
100

See crappy picture.

Do you run a governor?

I do not use a governor at this point. At this point my flying consist of foward flight, circuits and figure 8s and an occasional loop. Taking aerobatics slowly. I like the FAI F3C big maneuvers. Most of my flight time is on an electric 450 size.

I ask because throttle curves are all relative.

The values I gave will "ball-park" the HS...but your choice of servo arm & push rod length will impact the values slightly...as well as your pitch curve(s).

Who said these helis were straight forward!

Point is...got someone with an optical tach that can help you adjust your throttle curves to get the most consistent HS?

In this case, how many "points" does your radio support on the throttle curve? (3, 5 ,7, 9, 13)

More points equals more precise curve you can setup.

I have 5 points on the Spektrum.. Also in contact with a fellow pilot who has a tach. I can adjust from there.

Spektrum...think you have an "expo" function if I recall...turn it "on" as it "smooths" the curve between the points.
