I'd forget about the Sport BEC, only 1.25A continuously. I think the Align ESC has 2A. If your going with digitals, use the 3.5A Sport BEC.

I'm running the DS3400G into a 401 on the tail and HS5065's on the cyclic.

What I'm not getting here is why I need a separate BEC in the first place....?

Look at your ESC manual. with a 3S set-up the BEC is rated for three servos, you are going to run four digitalis.

What's the cost of a Switching BEC vs. a possible brownout, seems like cheap insurance to me.

With four DIGITALS a separate BEC is mandatory....
I have the same setup (three 5065 for cyclic and one futaba BL257 for tail)

Otherwise your servos will lack juice ;-)

OK guys, nothing like getting it straight from the source!

Are all BEC's the same? Any specific recommendations?

Thanks 770,

It's been a long while since I visited that site so thanks for the redirect and refresher info.

Now I've got to find someone who sells these three items if possible:

JGF 500TH motor
SportBEC
Hitec 5065MG servos

Helidirect is one source but they don't list the 500TH
