Helical gears stress the engine's output crankshaft, though...

Helical gears are smoother, easier to turn, I don't think they would stress the engine more

Helical gears are quieter, but at the cost of efficiency.

a helical gear isn't being any harder on shafts then a spur gear.

A regular spur gear puts a torque on the shaft it is attached to. While a helical gear puts both a torque, as well as a force on the Y axis along the shaft, which the bearings will take.

they are already used on helicopters such as the Align 600E (an optional gear), the JR Sylphide (other FAI machines im sure), and Century has been using helical metal gears on both the 90 and 50 sized machines for a while.

guy's the stock Zenoah Muffler has been Die Shaped, Die Cut and machine Welded and Chokes the engine,

Quote
well I'm quite sure the Stock Muffler doesn't allow the Engine to breath as well as the Century Muffler does..

Quote
I'm just saying the stock muffler is a muffler and nothing more, while Century's being a Tuned Muffler produces more power..

Sorry to disagree. Because of the slant, there is a force component that is constantly pulling the shaft up or down (depending on the side of the slant)

On many electric helicopters with helical gears the motor's exit shaft gets pulled out because of stress. It is a known issue on the 600E (which I actually own, and have tried the blue helical gears).

It doesn't mean it is bad. Just that it is not perfect. Good motors have no problem resisting the pull.

if you read through my post more carefully, you will notice i had mentioned this. I was referring to the force in the Y axis, maybe i would have been more clear if i said along the central axis of the shaft. But like i said, the bearings will take this force, not that there is a lot to begin with.

remember that the shafts these gears are on are already under lots of forces induced by the helicopter itself. this is why we have thrust bearings. What ever additional force is applied by the helical gear is pretty much negligible.

yeah i noticed. In fact i just ordered mine.
I ordered the std with the motor from bobby at XXX models.
Pretty excited to get it and get building.will be stripping one of my ravens for electronics in prepriation
this will be my first gasser, so i'm in untested waters for me,after a dozen or so nitro's and about that many eletrics i figure might as well dive in, what else is ther left to try in the heli world.I have stayed away from gassers untill now because of there poor power to weight ratio, but at 9 pounds this one should be close to a 600 nitro so should do 3D ok i think, at least my kind of 3D any ways, i like to fly big, fast and smooth . I think this machine will do that.

The only thing not sure of is vibration, I've heard gassers are bad, but the talk is this one is supposed to be pretty smooth, witch would equal lower maintence like my eletrics. yeah I know i'm dreaming.but we will see.

To much power is never enough.

what you think after i crashed your brand new TREX 250 that i"m going to let you take out your revenge on my new G20 that i probably won't be able to get parts for awhile, you're crazy man, you can take your revenge on one of my 50 nitro's
You know you're gonna whant one, you can never let me get one up on you.Especially when my flight times will be 30 minutes compared to your 3 min. and when I'm out of gas i can go down to the corner store for more at $2.50 a gallon instead of $30.00

You finally gonna strip one of the Raven's? You know after you strip it, you will buy new stuff for it, you cant stand to see a helicopter down, even if you should let it die!

all they need is 10 servos 2 governors 2 rx's 2 gyro's 1 50 size engine.

they look so sad sitting there waiting for an organ donor if you can help these poor little heli's fly once more, Please send donations to Blademaster@Runryder.com
