I posted on HF... but I figured I'd show my face in this forum as well.

New Beam owner here, its in the mail. Already have a good compliment of spare parts in case. I've purchased the Beam E4 Premium kit from a classified ad on here.

I'll be transferring some of my electronics to save money. I have a Turnigy E500 with 40A ESC for the power package. For control, I'll be using HS-65MG for cyclic and HS-82MG for the tail. For now, I'll be throwing on my Telebee gyro, but it will probably be one of my first 'upgrades' when I find a decent price on a gyro. I'm not into 3D yet by any means, but I've been looking for a heli I can 'grow' into, and from all I've read, I've made the right choice. I know all the parts I'm throwing in are not up to par for most systems, but I don't need that much since I"ll be doing racetrack patterns for awhile.

I need one of those to fly in my office. Tried to fly my .90 in there but man is my wife pissed now!

be careful on that gyro,it might spin on you!.i would just hover on that gyro until you get something decent like the new inertia gyro.its pretty cheap and holds like a spartan gyro.but the rest you have is pretty good.IMO.

Really? I've heard its a pretty good little gyro for the price. I know its not a 401, but like I said, I'm not doing anything more than racetracks or piro stalls for awhile. Either way, I'm sure I won't wait much longer than the next paycheck to get a GY520.

Better question... would you suggest a 520 over a Spartan? Spartan is cheaper and proven, this I know, and the 520 is new. Everyone at my LHS is walking out with the 520's on the back of their Beams.

I have them both and IMO i would prefer the Spartan than the Futaba 520.There both basically awesome gyro's. is just that i had a better luck with the Spartan with larger 90 size helis. you want a gyro basically that you can place it on a larger helis when you out grow the small ones later, instead of buying, buying, and accumulating stuff that you dont need ,IMO.but you might want to try the inertia 860 gyro, its not too pricey(about $130.00)im testing it right now and soo far so good!.had numerious test pilot buddies and two thumbs up on there side.i'll post a video later on and also theres a video that a guy posted on the trex thread http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5oDMPPlMlEM or type you tube inertia 860 flight I.

Where did you find the inertia for 130? I can't find it for anything less than 150 (not including shipping). Only a little bit more for a spartan at that point.

I've put the "new" Align GP750 gyro and servo combo on mine. It works perfectly and is small.

It was so nicely priced with the servo and I have seen the "upgrade opportunity"!

frebou... because I haven't taken the time to depin the connector. It wont fit through the ring without doing it. It came with it on it.

So my friend at the LHS has a Spartan gyro on order for me. I'll pick it up when I return from Detroit in a week or so.

Great lookin' BEAM! Like the green. Welcome to the BEAM family. I'm sure you'll love that little thing, just as we all do!

If you want to really up the flight characteristics of the stock heli, I would definitely throw on some of the KBDD tail blades and new 450 pro paddles. They come in green to compliment your color scheme, too! Will definitely give stability with amazing cyclic and tail response. Give 'em a try!

Thanks BoB!

Somewhere down the road I'll definitely get the KBDD blades... for now I'm just happy with how stable it is, seeing as how I'm still learning.

Thanks for all the help guys, my Beam is now complete. While I was gone I had my LHS order a Spartan. Its now in my machine with an Ino-lab 261HB servo. It's a little windy so I had to do my hover-checks in the back yard, but with a little tweaking she's holding solid! Took alot to program it with the Spektrum setup. The manual doesn't say that you no longer have to bind it with rudder off center. We did that at the LHS and afterwards couldn't get it into Heading hold. Rebound to center stick and it worked fine. Really strange.

I'm still mildly tweaking the gain. At 60% it doesn't hold well. At 70% it wags. At 62 its fairly tight, but not to my liking. 63 makes it hold tight, but when I pogo it, it will wag a very little bit. Should I keep it here or keep playing with it?
