Gasser. Uses pump gas and oil mix, like a flying weed-whacker or chainsaw. While inverted, it can also be used for trimming the lawn too, so the wife won't get mad

nitro future

i think the big thing for me is power. i when out and bought my first nitro a few years back thinking it would give me the most power. dont think thats the case. my buddy whos the best heli flyer intown said to me that electric will acually give most power with least bog issues. surprised me but i think hes right. pretty sure the the modern electric engines are going to out perform old school combustion type engine. fastest car in the world thease days is electric. power to rate ratios are fantastic . i think electric is def the way of the future. batt technology will be getting better as well

my two cents on it

SRC

I was at the Southern Rotory Classic a couple weeks ago. And the Castle Creation team had this Heli out there, that was out off this world. They claimed it had over 10hp in it. That thing was all over the sky. and was not bogging one bit. The only thing holding me back from converting is the cost to convert everything. I got so much nitro stuff right now. the only way I could go electric is to sell everything and buy used.

Is it the weekend yet?

SSC Ultimate Aero breaks production car world speed record.
Here is their website www.sscautos.com . You should check them out. The Shelby brothers who developed the car are local to me and a great bunch. I hear they are working on an electric or hybrid. The nice thing about this car though, is it is all American made scratch built all by hand including the 1194 Hp V8 engine. Back to the original topic. It's all about the nitro for me. Don't think I would ever go electric unless the technology improves a lot.

I think power is already fine with electrics. I'd like to see the next advances lean a little toward endurance.

In other words, from where we stand right now, I don't want to see any more power. I want to see more time. I'd take 50% more time before I'd take twice the power.

As for nitro, if the prices don't go down I may not buy another one. And A LOT of people are thinking this way. Nitro is in trouble, regardless of what people think. It may not go away, but it might become a relic like diesel model engines. Consider what is happening in the airplane world.

I'd love to see what percentage of new models are electric.

im saying in 5-7 years what are predictions. will we see 50-60 bucks a gallon?

No offense, but you can't actually be serious about anyone actually knowing what's going to happen with Nitro fuel prices in the next 5-7 years. Even the Nitro fuel manufacturers don't have a clue what's going to happen in 5-7 years. Heck, even the multi-billion dollar oil giants with billions of research dollars can't predict the future.

The only thing certain in life is death and taxes.

noise factor

Unfortunutly for me the noise factor dictates for me that the next heli I buy will be electric. Been kicked out of 6 places over 20 years because of noise. I should have bought electric instead of my Trx nitro pro, that thing is too thirsty anyway. When I bought it no one was complaing about noise now they r. anyone wanna trade for Logo 500 or swift with batteries to make up price difference?

Nitromethane is used in pharmacuticals and other industrial applications. It will be around for years and will always have a cost associated with it. Sometimes up, sometimes down. But, it's not likely to price us out of the hobby. I think you are worrying about nothing. Divide the cost of fuel per gallon into flights. Now compare what it costs to spend an afternoon flying your heli to any other hobby activity. Now forget all that and go fly and enjoy yourself. Its not an expensive hobby by any stretch.

it will never prive everyone out, but it has already priced a lot out. maybe you only fly on the weekends, for the next 2 weeks go fly 5 out the 7 days for an hour. burn a couple gallons in a week, practice, practice, practice. my point is the only way to get good is to burn fuel, which will cost 100 bucks every 2 weeks and that is only 3 gallons around here.

that is why it went up 10 bucks and never went back down? i figured by now, my area would have went back down.

30 bucks a gallon that is about 5 bucks for a 90 a flight, and about 4 a flight for a 50.

completely false!!!! if you fly after work , then it is going to cost a lot. that is not counting other fees to play.

It went up here and went back down but not as low as it was it is average about 5 bucks per gallon higher now except for the airplane fuel its all down to where it was before the nitro hikes kicked in here in my area.

maybe if you burned a lot of fuel you would understand

the average income cannot support the many many many many flights it takes to be a great pilot, average yes, but great, no.

I wanted to fly electric, if the flight times could be at least 10 minutes.
I fly about 12 minutes with my T700 (OS91HZ) and approximately 13 min with Century Raven 50 (OS55HZ).

Best regards Jesper Kofoed

If electrics could hold the same power for 7-8 mins through the whole flight like a nitro does which will never happen,I would still fly nitro LOL.

Maybe if you evaluated the cost of the hobby before you entered it you could adequately match your flying to your budget.

If you can't afford to fly what you want then that's a personal personal problem.
