Again, I like the frame design. But if Century is making another IC based frame design why on earth is it only a gasser and one that is on the heavier side? With a nitro engine mount for a 50 and possibly a 90 it would be super sweet and a huge upgrade to the nitro century heli line
.

You took the words right out of my mouth - make it for the new 55/56 engines and with the great shaft drive from the Raven/NX/Predator.

I was thinking something like rubberized engine mounts to isolate engine vibes

There is a simple reason why no heli with a single stage power system has never used such an engine mounting system.

It would compromise the alignment of the clutch (which is attached directly to the motor) to the clutch bell (which is attached to the upper frame) with every vibration of the engine.

Thanks Billme

is direct drive better then belt drive
I'm sure the belt would involve a higher parts count and more weight
to make it direct drive the engine would have to be well balanced.

just wondering

MotorRotor, and Eco8Gator. Most customers these days cannot afford 20-35$ per gallon of fuel(nitro), but dont want to deal with the 90 sized machine, or bigger. Thus the 50 sized gasser is born. Of course it will be heavier, the engine is bigger, and weighs more. Also the frame has to be stronger to hold up to more torque, and more straight HP. For hells sake, your wanting to compare a 20cc Gas ignition engine to an 8.0 cc nitro high rev engine(50hyper), for the heli it takes to contain it? Its like comparing a Honda to a dodge ram with a Cummins in it. Of course it weighs more, but will outperform simply for the reason that there is more power.

This is a fairly large public demand, and we are the FIRST to reply with a production heli, that offers what most people want.

^^^^

not to mention there are a lot of people that are not power hungry 3D masters. there are a lot of local guys here who just like to go and have some fun and just simply fly with basic aerobatics.

Magnum has very reasonable options for fuel that are rather inexpensive and provide good power....and I assure you the fuel is the last thing most people with 50s have to think about...most plant them before the gallon is over...well they do at my field.

Im just saying, include the option to take what looks like a decent IC heli design and put a darn engine in it that doesnt bring the weight up to 9 pounds. For the people that want the gasser...fine it is what it is but this airframe with a nitro 50 and even 90 mount could have a very bright future in the Century heli line...

century has a 50 and 90 that fly great and are reliable long term designs.

I am sure this design will have power options down the road once it is battle tested. The predator is a IC and nitro 90 with a few part changes.Century usually sticks with a design a good long time and thats great when you want parts down the road !!!

""this airframe with a nitro 50 and even 90 mount could have a very bright future""

well maybe Century will do just that ?????

I have to say I find some of the questions that are coming up rather funny, I mean you could ask Hirobo why they too stick with a plastic frame 50, or ask Robbe why they don't produce a nice 50 for the US market,,

I think if Century wanted to compete they would, but it's probably a real pain in the ass, they would have to keep on top of producing upgrades or updates all the time, I'm betting it was more like Century just looked at the market and asked what would be fun to produce for the hobby..

I dont know what the issues you had with Magnum but my friend(flew in the XFC) threw down some serious flights at IRCHA with Magnum 30% and the no nitro blend. He seemed to have no problems with this fuel...but thats besides the point.

Well here are the 2 different aiframe CCPM layouts...

Maybe its just me but man the new Rad is a very nice looking clean airframe. If have no doubt that the NX flys well but you can clearly see why I said the things I said. The Rad is the future...if Century wants it to be.

that NX looks familiar!

i like them both equally to be honest. although i really do like the anti rotation bracket built as part of the swash arms, identical to the Predator. it makes for a nice clean setup, as well as the reduced hassle of not needing to deal with the bracket when you need to work on the machine.

Century has done some nice work to the Radikal. and the great part is, you know it will work right out of the box. no screwing around with a never ending list of upgrades and out of date parts.

well, TBH the nx50 was designed for 3d, and the radikal was not. While it is capable, its not what it is intended to do.

Now that would really be a sweetheart - specially in a Bell 47G III configuration.

To me Century is the " lego/mechano set " of heli's

I can't wait till parts are in stock, nice engine that 20cc

That Radikal tail boom/belt might work nicely on a 620se with the scorpian 4025 motor. Making a sub 90 electric

I can see it being possible to build a Gasser Raven with a swift 620 cnc head

even using the new Radikal head on the Raven NX

Ooooh the possibilities are endless
