Very nice DJ. I am impressed how you make it work with VR 360. Neat and secure fastened.
The magnet version is giving as hard time – there are some bugs to be solved. From time to time it happens that the sensor reeds the magnets incorrectly which results in wrong revolutions number. But it will be solved.
Switches are much clearer to read for the pano controller and the electronics is as well easier.

Hi guys
The magnet version is working flawlessly. The magneto of my Predator gasser dos not affect the sensor at all. We solved all the bugs and added a FOTO mode. In this mode the Pano Controller dos not rotate the mount, only presses the release for the set time, while maintaining the mount in parking position. It is suitable for a one man heli/camera operator.
The safety features work nice.
There is one thing I would like you to help me with.
Because we were worried about loosing the magnets in flight, (the mount would rotate for ever) we set a time limit during which the sensor must meet the magnets. If it doesn’t, the unit goes to an error mode. The release servo returns to base and pan servo stops.
The time limit is now 7 seconds. This means every 7 seconds the sensor is left without the magnets being close to it – it will go to an error mode. My question is. Isn’t it too short?
Look how it influences the getting ready for take off.

Error mode is painful. You must go to check the magnets are there, cycle the power and bring the sensor above the magnets. Than it starts working again.

-1-
After power up – you have seven seconds to bring the sensor above the magnets. Due to a safety feature - you rotate the mount to get the sensor aligned with the magnets manually.

-2-
When the rotor starts revolving, the heli with the mount would move (gyroscopic effect), therefore the sensor would leave the magnets. The parking force might not be as strong to keep the magnets aligned with the sensor. Do not forget how strongly the tail gyro holds. As soon as the heli with the mount gets in the air, the parking force will bring the sensor above the magnets. Is 7 seconds (counted from the first rotor revolution) enough to get in the air?

In flight there is no way the sensor could be left without the magnets for longer than seven seconds. One revolution does not last longer than 4 sec. If you thing the time limit should be longer, let me know.

My opinion is it could be about 10 sec. In reality - if it happens that the magnets get lost, the mount would make little more than three revolutions (that is 10 sec.) and stop.

Could you explain why magnets are better than electric switches?

Never argue with an idiot, he'll drag you down to his level and beat you with experience...

Magnets are not better than switches. It works nicely as well.

Magnet version is more comfortable to mount.
Magnet version is more safe to use. The magnet sensor can not fisicaly break. A switch can.
The switch version does not have a processor to watch the switches are there, If they break or get loosen the pano mount would rotate until........something bad happens.
Magnet version does not produce any vibration. Switches might. - each time the switch bar hits the ramp.

Regarding the operation - bouth work the same. Switches are more comfortable to work with - there is no time limit to obey.
