My Posts This: Topic Forum | Interesting. I am a Futaba guy that used to fly JR. I am going to watch this one with interest. Not because I want a new radio, but because there are things that, had the JR had, I would have never switched. That is simply the truth, and I have learned, alot more things since the switch. Just convience things, that for the end user, would make things simpler(even with JR simplicity). But then, as you add features, things "can" get more complex, hence the 14 that I have now. It's a great radio also, and of course, it has it's faults, the main one being IMHO, that unlike a JR, the manual for me, did nothing. I read and read, and read, but until I got the confidence to get in there and play with it, it was very frustrating.. But now, after a few months, dude, it's gravy!!!
It is interesting to see die-hard Futaba "and" JR guys/gals. Just like helicopter mfg's loyalists. I love Align for the cost, but I fly Synergy for the quality. If I were to switch heli brands, it would probably be CYE or Miniature. But back to subject, I have had JR, Futaba, and Airtronics. For me, it's whatever floats your boat. But, it would be sweet for JR users, if with their new "ground-up" approach, they did give you all some new software enhancements/features. Because, honestly, I know quite a few people, that have recently switched because of things that the 12X cannot do, and for the price, to me, it should.
I am not bashing it at all, after all, I considered strongly getting one, and it's a sweet "looking" radio. But for the price point these days, for you all, you should at least get firmware upgrades, where you don't have to send it in to Horizon.. Thats an inconvience to you all.. And a dedicated throttle cut, this is weird, extremely weird, because the DX6 has it.. I sold a buddy of mine, my DX7, and he was like "dude, where's the throttle cut".. And I looked at him like "huh, what JR/Spectrum radio has throttle cut"? When he told me the 6 had it, I almost did a backflip.. I mean, things like that.. Why would the bottom of the rung radio have a feature that the top end does not? It was things like that for me at least.
I mean, the 14 dude, LOL, it's like a mini computer, but that is both good and bad.. Some catch on quick because they have used Futaba radio's, but for us JR converts, it's like "condition"? What is that? LOL..
But, the radio certainly looks cool.. I just hope they took the time to look at the end user and what the competition is offering the end user, along with the price point that these feature lists are being offered. If not, I think, this could be a bad move on JR's part. But hopefully not.. If nothing else, diversity breeds competition, which ultimately means more features and savings for the end users...
Excellent flying to all!!!!
