Playing the video embedded on the site works fine. Downloading the video via the link does not work, gets to the end and errors out. Weird.

Shame the RF releases after 3.5 seem to be more geared toward the video game crowd than the simulation crowd. I'd prefer less gimmicky stuff and better physics if possible.

G5

I wonder if you buy the upgrade if you will still be able to load the g3. so you can fly with your friends that only have g3 and keep the g5 on the computer also

I think the upgrade dvd will just bring your g3 up to g5. You could always just reinstall g3 though. Been having a lot of fun woth g5. The autos are harder they seem on g5. So far very pleased with it. I bought the complete version with transmitter so my son and I can fly together as I only have one controller. Now I need to get the upgrade disk for the other computer because you can only register the dvd on on computer it seems. I am having trouble getting online though. It is my router settings I am sure, and I don't know how to change the settings. I am using a ZNetgear router and running windows firewall. My internet server is Time Warner Roadrunner. I have added G5 to the programs for windows firewall but I think I need to configure my router. If anyone knows how I might be able to to that any information is greatly appreciated. Thanks Chuck

I totally agree with you on their lack of efforts to improve their software as a viable training tool and more towards gimmicks. Real flight G4.5 is still a fantastic Sim and I believe they were going in the right direction with it because of the competition from Phoenix. There were a number of things that they improved on 4.5 including auto rotation realism, better overall physics, and more heli models to choose from. I was hoping they would have continued in this path with G5 and would have put their energies into improving what RC enthusiasts trully can benefit from and that is better realism and physics. I'm greatly dissappointed in this release and will opt to not "upgrade". I still feel Real flight 4.5 is more realistic than phoenix even if phoenix is geared more towards the RC purists.

I have had RF 3.5 / 4.0 / 4.5, and must say, I will not be going for this one for a good while. I will listen to the feedback from the group and see if there is any real improvement before making a move. RF has a number of interesting features, but the needed improvements in dynamics are yet to be seen.
