Im using 4 9252's with a 9253 on tail and a 2300 mAh battery on my Fury. I got 5 1/2 flights in the other day no prob with the battery starting around 5.15v so with afull charge I prob would of had at least 2 more. I would guess you'd prob get at least 5 flights out of it, but couldnt say for sure. If the numbers work out right 1700/2300 = .74 and .74 * 8 flights = 5.9 but that'd prob be best scenario. Id stick with my guess of 5 flights but couldnt promise you that for sure.

with 3000 nickle metal hydrides, I get 7 to 8 flights comfortably, and could push for a couple more. With the 3800's, over a dozen flights

Id like to correct myself

Ther more I think about it... I think I did put mine on quick charge for 10 min or so before my last flight, so take everything I said -1. Sorry I dont have more precise info, but the weather heres only permitted me to get in maybe 9-10 flights on the Fury so far... cant wait till spring! Id still say that you could get 4 (conservativly) or 5 flights on a 1700 pack.

1/2 flights are generally bad

No.... its not what you think.... Actually the half flight was my first. Noticed that the bolt that holding one of the tail pushrod guides worked its way out. Didnt need that anyway, thats why there are two right Anyway Ill take the first flight being a 1/2er rather than the last... thats for sure.

Does running the extra amp box of a gy502 and a gv-1 use up the pack faster? I am running 3 9252's and 9253 on tail with a gy502. Along with a gv-1 and running a expert 2700mah nimh pack. It is intresting on how many flights you guys put on a pack. I get scared after 4 flights and charge it up.

Guys, just note the voltage under a load and then discharge your pack after you have done 4 flights and see how many mAh's are still in the pack. Next time try one more flight and do the same afterwards. you quickly get a feel for the relationship of the voltage under load to the capacite remaining. I don't run the pack to less than 40% remaining. You also see when a pack is getting old as its remaining capacity starts reducing. I normaly discharge my pack after flying about every 4th outing.

Well I did 4 tanks on my setup today with the 2700nimh pack. After I got home I charged the pack and it took 1000mah. Now this is cold winter air about +2c and the flights where short due to a rich run, About 10min. Some of the guys I was flying with are running the same setup with 3000mah nimh packs and did 5 flights and still had 1500mah left in there packs.

I've gotten 5 3D style flight out of one charge with my Fury with a 2700 NiMh 4 cell AA pack. It has 3 9252's, one 9253 and one 9404 on it. On the safe side I limit it to 3 flights or maybe 4 on one charge.

NO guys you must discharge after flying to see what is still in the pack. To charge and see what it takes tells you nothing except what you used and not what you have left as an insurance. Your 2700mAh pack only needed 1000 to top it up but might have only had 100 left in it, Who knows ?

I just dealt with this problem this weekend. My fury has 3 9252's for collective, and 1 9253 on the tail. After about 2 flights my onboard battery monitor would show that the battery is getting low.

A guy at my field had a nifty field charger that would tell you how many mAh it charged your batteries with, so we charged up my fury, and I went an flew it for 10 minutes. After I landed, we charged it up again to see how much was used. We did this over and over again to come up with a decent average. A 10 minute flight would use between 260 and 290 mAh. So, on a 1700 mAh battery you should get an easy 4 flights without pushing it.

I guess my battery monitor is a bit sensitive ..

Hi TappyRappy, i use the Alpha 4 by Litco. It is really worth the money. I always know the exact condition if my packs. My previous charger , a muliplex combilader failed on me. The light was on but no charging. Went and flew and had a fly away with one of my pattern planes, well sort of. Lost engine (OS140) on downwind, (PCM low battery) mannaged to turn it onto final approach and get the gear down and then lost all control. It glided and stalled at 3 foot and landed on a wingtip and the nose. Very little damage.

This lucky let off made me realise my charging was weally poor. and went and spent a lot on a "good" charger. Waited 3 months to get it from the US. Worth the wait. It charges/discharges 4 batteries at a time. There are about 9 different modes, slow / fast / peak / gelcell / cycleslow / cyclefast etc... and from 1 to 10 cells and any combination on any of the 4 outputs.

I only use the onboard voltage thingys just to see if I'm falling below voltage during flight.

I charge every other flight irregardless of remaining charge coz I too am chicken. I figger a battery pack that get's memory effect is alot better than crashing because of battery failure.

I really like my Alpha 4 charger. Just bought a second one just in case they stop making them. A fine tool for our hobby.
