>>How could I test it on the ground (like in the store, before buying it?)<<

There is nothing to test. You just have to ready the specs. Testing would probably be simply taking some video and try to jiggle the camera while recording.

Or even better, bring the heli to the shop, just remove the blades before you fire it up and tell people to cover theire faces...

I bought an SD9 on Ebay and it seems to take pretty good video...but my computer is just a tad too slow to keep up with the editing. The cam was cheap...but my new computer won't be

sony camera's have much less rolling shutter issues

Also a tape based camera workes better for me, I use a Sony HC5
I have bad experiences with the canon HFS 100 having big waves in the picture.

Sorry, I missed the thread for a while. The panny SD9 was replaced with the SD100 and then the SD300. The SD10 is a single chip camera. Although it still takes great video it does not have all the bells and whistles you may find useful.

Do any of these cameras discussed, which use CCD and not CMOS allow you to change frame rates? 24P? 29.97? Or just 30 fps all the time?

I have the Canon HF 11 . Havent got a gimbal yet so i only tested it on my motorbike.

And yes it could not focus ... Only my old mini dv sony camcorder can do the job.

So if i had to buy another camcorder , a size that a trex700e could lift it, what would you suggest so that i can get a decent video?

700e

Did you guys know that the CCD sensor won the Nobel price for physics this year, and that it was invented in 1969

Wonder why it took them so long?

Masters of light...

That said, being the "first successful imaging technology" (theorized by Albert Einstein no less), I find it amazing we're still discussing the technology today, 40 years later.

To a degree you can change the frame rate but not very intuitive. You can select 24 fps in the menu. When you turn off 24 fps it is suppose to be recording at 48 fps. Then you can also select auto slow shutter which will go from 48 fps down when the shutter get's slow in low light. When you turn off auto slow shutter the frame rate goes up to 60 fps.

I hope it makes sense.
