My Posts This: Topic Forum | Growing up in the '70's, I remember watching what would have been first generation model helicopters at a local fun fly - looking back, it likely was Steve Gray flying. Years later in the late '80's - early '90's I remember seeing Scott sending a heli up and down the flight line in what was a sort of large tictoc with some traveling flips thrown in. I've never lost that image from my mind, and am now lucky enough to have the time and money to try some of these things myself.
Truth is, a year ago I wouldn't have known a Schluter from a schnauzer but, am now really interested in the vintage stuff - how it was built and designed, and ultimately - how it flies...
Don't get me wrong, I love my Vibe 90 - and it certainly does it's job, but it doesn't have the historical significance - and never will, that some of these other machines have. I'm flying in a time where the electronics and mechanics and power systems really make the job of flying one of these machines about as easy as it can get. I find it amazing - knowing what I do now - how they (some of you), managed without computer radios and gyros etc.
Bottom line, the vintage stuff is nothing if not cool.
