I started this build back in early April before my shoulder got torn up. I had to put it aside while I was healing after extensive surgery. I just recently started doing some work on it again so I thought I would share my progress.

My helper Kali. He is just a baby parrot in
this picture, and only two months old.

Kali Inspecting parts.

Main rotor parts slipped onto the main mast.

Three pics of the mechanics being built up
with a G260 RC Engine

Installation of a pico kill switch.

Additional control arm was added to the carb
for a servo actuated choke. This Bell 47 GIII
is also being equiped with an onboard electric
starter.

Here are two pictures showing the choke servo.

Scale Head.

Mechanics now installed in the yellow powder
coated frames.

Sorting out the cabin area.

Vario wiring for the electric start. Works good!

This where the work stoped after my injury. But now I am doing some work on it while the resin cures on my AH-56 Cheyenne plug project. The plug is coming along nicely

Now the tanks are installed.

Here you can see the floor frames have been
cut back to their proper location. Vario has
this detail all wrong, they have the floor
coming all the way out to the front of the
heli which is not correct. The wood parts
are glued in with BVM V-Poxy. this the best
stuff on the planet for gluing wood to fiberglass.
Once it cures it ain't coming out, so you
better have it where you want it.

Another view of the cut back floor frame.
And, yes that is Indiana Jones. I got him off
of Ebay for $40.00. He is a quater scale action
figure which is the correct scale needed for
this helicopter.

Scratch built oil cooler.

Here you can see the frame work on the back of
the oil cooler.

I am making several scratch built scale items for this Heli, such as a dummy IOV-470 Lycoming engine and sump, external oil tank, cool air intake and other stuff to help hide some of the Vario mechanics. Just because this helicopter looks like a scale Bell 47 G-3, it is far from accurate and these little additions will make a lot of difference.

This is my inspiration helicopter.

Thats all for now

Richard

I have already had some PM's asking where to get the BVM V-Poxy. I hope this is alright.....?

If you get this product just order the kit and you will get this very nice application gun with an assortment of the tips in different lenghts. It mixes the glue in the tip, and all you do is point and squeeze. It puts out a perfect bead of glue that does not run. It stays put in the joint, even in overhead situations. Again, this is the best there is for gluing wood to fiberglass. Your mechanics won't break free if you use this stuff.

Gun with two part glue container inserted and long tip shown.

Richard,

That is one cool inspector you got there.

Great project.

The BVM V-Poxy is the shizzle for sure. Good stuff.

Richard, nice bird. You are going to love the Vario Electric Starter. I switched my Speed 400 motor out to a Brushless @60%. Get ready to be spoiled.

I was hoping that you were going to coming out to Debbie's two Sundays ago, but I hope to meet you one day when I'm up there again.

Thanks again:

The rain has returned so I have had to put the Cheyenne aside again, even though I got more done on it, it is not quite there yet for the addition of panel lines and such. So I have been working on the cockpit of my 47. I will post some more pictures of the 47 today.
