I suppose I am late on this one but I was just getting back into the CP Pro and I have the Medusa 12mm 4000kv tail motor. When I bust it up in a crash then what?

It states on the website they won't be offering any service. If you bust up your tail motor it's on you anyways!

No, it states they left the Rc business. They won't be selling any more products.... No kidding it's on me! That means I am liable right? There for I guess it's my responsibility to "BUY" a new motor. Yea. There out of business.... now what?

Hobby City

It's a Turnigy "1606" with a KV of 3000 but they have a number of little outrunners in the 2-3000KV range that would work. I like this one because of the tube-style mount. You can see in the second pic that I made an aluminum "donut" mount for it. Works fantastic.

If you didn't know it already - don't use anything other than a CC T-bird 9 for the controller. This is vital. . . .

Yea i went to get one of those medusas for the rear of my cpp2 and was bummed to see they're out of business. I did find these though: http://www.b-p-p.com/product.php?pr...3&cat=31&page=1 The shaft is kinda short but i just drilled straight through the housing and pushed to motor through it so half of the motor is on the right side of the heli and half is on the left. Just figured i'd throw that out there.

Nice find ejc; do you know for sure that the shaft is too short for a press on prop like a 3020 or 3030 to still fit the stock mount?

No, i dont know for sure about that. I just meant the prop adapter or whatever its called that comes with the cpp2. If you'd happen to find out if one of those press on props would work, lemme know. I just moved the tail motor heat sink to the other side of the heli so the motor wouldn't blow out of the housing. Havent figured out another way yet, dont want to glue the motor in the housing.... If i could use a press on prop while mounting the motor the stock way, that'd be great.

I have BCPPs (4 of them) and although I use the BCPP2 tail motor mount to hold GWS, Medusa, or Feigao tail motors I've never used an adaptor. I get GWS 3020 or 3030 props and press them on. I'll measure the shaft(s) that extend out from the motors and let you know that dimension. Could you measure the shaft on your Hyperion motor and together we'll try to figure out if the press on method will work? What do you think jojo?

The shaft protrudes 5mm out of the motor case and its 1.5mm in diameter.

Ok ejc I'll measure what I think the min. requirements are for the shaft length based on my models. I probably will not get at it until tonight. BTW there is a simple process to press on a prop that I developed through trial and many errors. If anyone is interested I'll explain further.

I'm bummed about this big time. I have a Medusa motor now. Feigao is still around right? That was the first brushless motor I had for my tail, and that was an exact duplicate of the Medusa, same shaft length, weight, and power I think.

Same basic specs but NOT EVEN CLOSE to the quality of the Medusa. I have both on separate birds now. Medusa wins by a long margin. Yea Feigao is still around but we need another good motor like Medusa. That's why I'm hoping this Hyperion is good.

I think this is the one: http://www.bphobbies.com/view.asp?i...328&pid=U117989 It took a real beating back when I was learning that gravity works all the time. Guess I should buy 3 or 4 in case they go out of business too.

Sure not as good as the Medusa, but I can't cry about it now. I'm just saying that the Feigao worked pretty good. I even fixed twice after a couple of hard crashes.

Yea you're right, it's better than a brushed motor and it's available. But this Hyperion appears to be a better quality than the cheap Feigao. BTW I had three Feigaos on separate helis and now I'm down to one. They didn't hold up too well. Somebody who has a few BCPPs and at least one with a Medusa tail motor and one with a Feigao tail motor should get this Hyperion motor. He should test it against the other two motors and post the results. Maybe this is the replacement motor some or us are hoping for...

edit / One more thing: the shaft on a GWS brushed motor extends out 4.6mm and 6.7mm on a Medusa. That means that this Hyperion motor (extends 5mm) will work for a press-on application. Thanks ejc!
