I dare not give quick and sharp steering with my tail rotor!
I am afraid to break some teeth in the tail gear unit, I have tried for a time too much!
What is your experience?
Have you broken teeth in the air?
I use the tail blades: 95mm Align T-H60128-1.
I can probably also just use metal gears?

Best regards Jesper Kofoed

blaaah, sorry, i have nothing good to say about JR gyro's.

I just took a look through the manual for the 770, and there does not seem to be a way to adjust the stopping speed, or to add in a delay like any other gyro, such as the 601 which has been around for some time.

i wonder if maybe adding some expo (around 30% ? ) will help soften the stop near the center of the stick. unless you have that already. from my experience, even slowing down the piro rate has helped prevent gear stripping. I did this using the travel adjust for the rudder, instead of 150%, i have it dialed down to about 125%. This still gives a fast piro (on the mini-g) but takes it easy on the tail gears.

i currently use the 601 on my Raven, but i had to tweak in the stopping speed a tad to prevent the crown gear from stripping. it isn't a lot, or even noticeable to the naked eye when you watch the heli come to a stop. just enough so it isn't too aggressive on the tail.

i use the Mini-G on the Predator, and i even had to dial in the stopping speed on that as well. Both machines had very strong tail systems. but gyro settings can test those limits.

Why kill yourself? Just use the metal gears for the tail and call it a day.

well, something has to fail. and i have always had the crown gear fail before the tail gears myself back when i had the plastic tail gears.

i now use the metal tail gears. no real reason other then i can. haha.

I have never destroyed the crown gear.
And I does not replace the gyro, due to a weak tail gear.
So I chose probably metal tail gears.

It seems to me the tail gears and/or crown gear stripping is a symptom not a cause. I have a 770 gyro on another bird and its a great gyro but takes some time to get tuned in just so, Id keep tweeking the gyro until the issue is resolved.

The crown gear is $9 US the tail gears $5, until I had found the problem Id rather replace the less expensive gear. For me its easier to replace the tail gear than the crown. If you go with the metal gear w/o curing the problem you may as well buy a few crown gears because you will be replacing them. Turn that gain and ATV down

J Kofoed ,, what type of pilot are you,, I really don't think you will have a problem with the Tail Gears braking in flight, I mean I don't remember any complaints about them braking in flight,,

Crown Gear,,
other than in a crash the only time I stripped a Crown Gear is when I had a very hard landing while doing an Auto,,
if the Back-Lash in your Crown Gear/Tapered Gear is excessive you can use a Thin Washer to put behind the Tapered Gear, this will push the Tapered Gear forward tightening-up the Lash, then you shouldn't have a problem with stripping, even in a hard landing,,

anyway, and to add, Century has increased the Teeth Depth in the NX Crown Gear..
