hi guys,,
you know you know, a fire breathing, nitro eating glow heli brings something to the hobby an electric heli never will,, but on the other hand if I buy an electric heli I will fly a hell of a lot more than I do, as much as I want that new 20cc gasser that's coming I think my pennies will be saved for a new Swift 620 next spring

at this time of the year it's a real back-side-pain to drive 25 miles to the club's field only to find the field is soaking wet or it's really windy and cold), or raining (then 25 miles back home), while all the time I know of fields within 2 miles of my home that would be great for an electric heli, it would be really great just to zip 2 miles to this field and spend a hour and fly a few flights or more (a few days a week) and then zip home, yet still know I have the club's field on the weekend to fly with my club-friends,, these fields are very well large enough for a glow heli, this one field must be at-least a 1/2 mile long, but where I would park my van there are houses some 1/4 mile away so I would want to be quiet, the owners of this field know-of my family so I am sure they would let me and my friends fly there as long as we are quiet,, and to add if I had an electric heli I could hover around in my back yard every day..

sorry this was so long, but I think my pennies will be saved for a new 620

Yea Century electric is a great way to go !! I agree
I had the gasser and liked it but I like light disc loading.

I sold my 550 620 and swift 16 due to battery cost back when they hit the market after I was done testing for Century more or less or soon after. With the pack prices today it is game on for the E-helis !

You never know a new electric may be in the works from Century

I like the 550 size myself cheaper packs good flight time light feel in the air.

I will have to have them both just to see myself

Started with the E-heli mid summer to early summer and the nitro supply did not get depleted too bad for sure. I am sold on it again.

Although the 90's came out a lot more with me this year for sure

I've just about finished building my 620SE. I hesitated quite some time before stepping into EP (I've 15 years of NP, currently with Hawk SE).

However, I'm not that sure that flying EP is "less" hassle then NP.

With NP, once you're nicely set up (well equiped field box with all you need nicely available), I don't really find there's much hassle, I mean you just fuel up, start, and fly.

With EP there's all this charging/balancing stuff (before and after flying), pluging/unpluging the LiPos (i.e. canopy on/off). I don't think this seems simpler than NP.

Of course, theoretically, the low noise of EP makes it possible to fly in more places, but in practice, many of these places are no goog anyway because people are walking their dogs, kids are playing around, bikers come by, grass is too long, trees all over the place, electric wires, ...

In the end, I don't think I'll fly my 620SE anywhere else than at the field (which luckily is only 10 minutes drive away from home or work).

However, hope to have the 620SE flying this week end and maybe I'll change mind.

OK Ill throw my 2 cents worth here. Started on a Hawk Sport, still have it along with 2 other Century 50s and a Logo 10/400. I do like my NP birds and will not give them up w/o a fight.

That said, it took about 4 months for my flight totals on the logo to surpass the totals for all my NP helis. Maintenance has been significantly less on the electric heli. The incidence of stupid mistakes and or "rare" failures associated, at least by me, with nitro birds is also much less. (Hole in fuel line, glow plug issues, mis tune, vibe related fastener looseness, stuff like that). For me the electric has been a much easier heli to get up time and time again. Just going by logged flights, my electric is clearly my favorite.

Yes batteries are expensive and not hard to damage. Yes it is easier to spend $22 bucks on a gal than $150 for a battery. Finally, yes my 6s electric has more power to weight and is much more agile than my 50s, but no way Im giving up my nitros.

A Gasser? Best of both worlds? I can see alot of advantages to a Gasser, fuel being the leader. A 50 size even sounds better to me but initial cost and the, or my perceived, relative lack of power to weight keeps em off my list.

Being able to toss some packs in the car along with the heli/radio and go fly in alot of places off limits is a huge advantage for me as well. Batteries are getting much more powerful and cheaper by the day. Hate to say it but to me it looks like Nitro has a fight on its hands, and Im a Nitro guy!

The good ole times are now ,Hawk, Raven, Raven NX, Logo 10
