Ben,
Mine with 600kvm motor w/11.6 gear ratio sounds really smooth and quiet 1550prm up. Idle up was really smooth as well. That's why I didn't realize I was swinging 2200+ (2235) till we tached it. T700 went as fast as Cliffey's rocket ship.

Danny told me I'm pushing too hard on esc and motor during hover. I bet if you can find 1 tooth lower pinion would help quite bit on your case. I'm already down to 10T pinion, so I can't go any lower.

Danny, do you know if we lower esc frequency to 8kHz or up to 16k, is it going to help on chattering noise on lower rpm? I'm using 12K with normal timing. I don't want to sacrifice efficiency, but I have enough head room for heat on motor and esc (both 120 deg F.)

I think the issue in your case is the motor KV is just too high for the available gearing. I'll pull the Xera 4030-3Y (470kv) motor out of my 700e and send it to you tomorrow. I bet it improves things a lot.

Hey Danny,
I'll give it try.
Thanks.

When I flew yours at IRCHA, I thought your motor was 570kvm instead of 470. That's the reason I thought I could use 600kvm with a few teeth change...

If I can get through P-schedule 4200mA in 20~25mph wind, I have really good chance I can manage under 4000mA with 470kvm motor.

Should I change the gear ratio to near 9.6 (116T/12T)?

Nob,
My 700e is 10.25:1 and as you could see at IRCHA it runs very well. I originally was thinking your 11.6:1 ratio would be a good try but I don’t believe the top end head speed will be enough. I ran 9.65:1 for a while on the 470kv motor and it ran well so it would be worth trying 9.6:1. If you can find an 11/114 or 113 main combo I think it would be ideal. I will have some of the FAD mod 1 e-Pinion gears and more of the main gears in a week or so. The pinions will be 11T, 12T, and 13T.

The 2010 schedule is not official as of yet (at least as far as I know) but I think the approval is more of a formality at this point....

More on flying the P schedule with E power

I've been following everyone's posts on trying to make the schedule with 12s 5000mah packs and it can be done. I managed to get through the entire schedule in near perfect conditions (55* and almost no wind) and only put 3900mah back into the back with my latest E9 incarnation.

I've been running a 532Kv motor at a 9.54 ratio. Hover at 1550, 2100 in the aeros, but I need to drop it down to 1750 for the turn around. I can get the motor to run fine at 1500 or even 1450 but I get severe mast bumping below 1550. I'm looking at dropping it into a fuse to improve aerodynamic efficency and them maybe I can lower the HS a little more to help save the battery for when the conditions aren't so perfect.

You just gave the exact reason that 5000 is marginal!
There is no argument that in favorable conditions that 5000 mah is enough. The problem is when you are fighting a crosswind or you push a little harder or do longer turnarounds. 5000 mah is just a little shy of what is good for safety margin of the batteries. I see that 6S 5500 batteries are available from Neumotors and they will work very well and give the extra run time necessary to have a good safety margin. There is no reason to run a 5000 when you can get a battery that will give you the extra so you have no concerns about power.

Thanks for the tip on the 5500s.

I haven't had the chance to fly the P schedule in a nasty cross wind yet so hopefully I'll get a chance in the next week or two. Based on the data from my EagleTree logger I still think that I really won't need the extra weight of the 5500s, but I may have to pick up a set for testing anyway.

Well, it looks like I'll be going back to my 10s 6500mah set-up or I'll have to end up ordering some 5500s from Neu. I flew it again last night and really pushed. I had to put just over 4100mah back into the pack. That is pushing the batteries a little harder than I'd like.

Can any record video of the p7 and p9 manuevers?

Watching this video from the March event it took 6 seconds per loop.

If the p9 requires 2 seconds devoted to just the piro, then the top 1/3 of the loop is a pirouetting arc?
