Well I think you will find the DJI and/or Profi will hold very tight.

The problem is, that if you are doing survey photography and want to provide accurate >5cm resolution, in order to insure that you can use the resulting photographs for accruate measurement you need a very exact grid reference and height. The accuracy of the GPS and hold would be the margin of error for the photos. There isn't much use in providing >1m resolution if it isn't posible to measure accurately distances less than that because of lack of accuracy in the GPS.

This becomes VERY important when doing things like water runoff evaluations and environmental assessments, which is the direction I would like to go =).

Ah yes, you are in need of a very accurate system for that. It will be very interesting to see how accurate the way point navigation is when its released soon.

I check DJI's site daily with baited breath in hopes that the Way Point edition will be released! hehehe =).

I have a whole bunch of questions regarding that! For one, is there an API included with the system so that I can integrate it into existing or future applications (such as running the inputs to a off board computer and processing the resulting signal at a base station for input into the control system, as an example). That is just an example off the top of my head, but it is more so that the DJI system can be integrated into other onboard or offboard UAV systems. Also so that if, and when I get a high precision GPS it can be integrated into the existing setup (Ya.. I know GPS signals are a complete mess, but there is kind of a standard.. kinda =P)

Does the DJI work in combination with other stability devices like the Mikado V-Bar, or does it have appication or FBL use as well, thereby replacing the need for the V-bar?

Lastly, can the DJI system be upgraded so that if, say, I went with system that is currently avalible, I could upgrade to DJI WayPoint or DJI Professional once they are released?

Sorry, just saw you were a distributer and the questions pile up one on top of another! =)

Fellas thank you very much for your feedback. I really appreciate it. Sorry for the late reply. I'm finally catching up on my sleep.

cranester, both systems are equal in its position holding. Both will drift within their limits. The number of satellites available will vary which determines position hold.

Yes the Profi/GPS will take more time to fine tune. But it also has a lot more options and a bit more flexible with the ability to adjust gain settings "on the fly". Remember the price difference.

If you already have the Profi, the GPS unit by itself with cabling, firmware upgrade and software is 1,490.00 euro

Ros, a question, if you want to go down a long straight highway, could you simply just fly straight forward with alt mode on until its almost out of sight, and then just engage the nose home function to get it back?

If so, i would say its a semi waypoint system

Yes you could.

Mmmm... out of sight? That would be between 800 to 900 ft... damn that's pretty far.

In alt dampen. GPS enabled.

Yes just engage face home. I would climb a bit, to avoid light posts, and push forward.

(yeah I'm still up... )

Cooool, im already in loooove

You should test how high you can get in one pack, just as i did last year

I think this opens up allot of new doors when it comes to possibilities and safety during flight, especially in gusty conditions, or if you get to far out and start hesitating on which direction the heli are

BTW, did you notice my pic of the eagle trying to attack me earlier this week?
Yea, it happens here to...
On top of that i was bouncing around in 30-40kmh gusty winds, talk about rush, with the gps i could just park it there...

EDIT: out of sight is at least 1000ft, remember?
Im thinking more like 1500ft

LOL I think a "parked" heli is an easier target for these birds...

I don't think flying a heli out of sight can be good unless you have a FPV setup. Try "relay"...
