Popadel New Heliman Location: Dubai
My Posts This: Topic Forum | Don’t get me wrong, its not quality im referring to but the physics engine of the sim. I use a Samsung HD TV - 32 inch LDC as my monitor and a top end PC for very clear and easy learning of new tricks. Phoenix is set to 1380 X 796 with antialiasing and VS. Its photo-picture perfect…and I also feel like I need to cut the grass its so real. G4,5 its way more resource intensive and demanding and the quality is less impressive using the same settings, however G4,5 offers 2 kinds of airfields (picture setting and artificial image) the later being a better choice for high end PC’s where you can create your own field.
Unfortunately regardless of software power increase the G4,5 helies bog under hard 3D which is not always true to life. Using unrealistic settings affect torque etc so makes it worse. My own helies which many can attest to who have the same (Trex 450 Pro with 2221- 6 Scorpion , Kasama Srimok .90 and Trex ESP 600 with a 560 - 4035 Scorpion on 12S in the right hands can go all day with no bog) Phoenix is closer to real life and will not bog on the larger helies.
I play them back to back for the brain to learn different configurations. I also spend 1 - 3 hours per day on this as im based in Dubai for 18 mth so nothing to do here but fly sim or the real deal. I use my X9030 and at times the plastic controller from G4 as this also shocks the brain into learning the variations. For those new to flying try NOT to learn on the plastic controller if you serious about flying 3D. It will rob you of the finer resolution and you will go through some pain when you finally lift off, rather plug your own controller in and set up the curves on that.
Personally id rather have both as both have good points and bad points, however knowing what I know now, for a new person who wants to get in the air fast and progress beyond the “driving miss Daisy” flying – I would use Phoenix.
My novice 2c worth. Enjoy! |
