i havnt messed with 450's in quite some time..but i have a nice super low time 450 Se V2 on the way i got a good deal on..what is the difference between the "sport V3" and the "pro" V3 helicopters..on the align website they looks pretty similar excepet the sport is blue and has a belt driven tail..is that about the only difference? just curious as i would also like to conver to the newer style head block and TT tail but id rather have the blue parts so they match the original V2 colors better...

Well first off the 450 Pro as they call it is a large step forward from the 450 Se V2's stock configuration. This is with a torque tube shaft driven tail. When this came out I knew they would have a problem with newcomers breaking T-Tube gears hitting the tail on the ground. I looked for what I called and newbie or entry level 450 with the belt and soon came the belted tail version called the sport. I read up on these and made my decisions. I went with the upgraded head and TT. To be honest the TT didn't do much the the Se V2 as far as handling. I was one that hated my V2 and had tail holding problems. I figured out tail holding situation just before the 450 Pro hit the market. I upgraded to the head and what a difference. It is just superior. The head has wider dampeners. This allows for a more locked in rotor disc where the spindle isn't allowed to flex as much. It just feels more like a 500 Trex. Well almost!

This upgrade got me so excited I looked on ebay for a 450 pro frame since I now almost had the pro version. All I needed was the head and frames and some ods and ends. I gave up that search since my v2 was flying so well. I run my v2 on 4s and went out and bought 4 new Turnigy packs. I now have 10 packs for it. I set aside 90 minutes in the morning 3 days a week and go fly my 450 at the local field. I have the align case for her and toss it in my van and when ever I have time I zoom the the field and fly. Small, easy, cheap, fun! Can't beat that.
I would swear that my 4s v2 v3 conversion flies almost as well as the pro. Still have the desire to try somebody's pro or upgrade mine but lately I have seen pilots wanting to upgrade their pros to 4S?!? This leads me to believe "keep what I have" .
My advice is just by the "V3 upgrade head"

1)On another note the TT is the same that is on the 450 Pro...

2) The v3 head upgrade is for the V2 but should be interchangeable with the sport.

3) The sport has its own head. My buddy bought the sport head and put on his Se V2. It fits. plain and simple. The sport head just looks a little nicer and if the blue is not a direct match its pretty darn close.

The Torque tube has been flying on my V2/V3 for a while now. I have 60 or 70 flights on her (if not more) and 4 or 5 crashes and it's cheap and easy to fix. I love it. I tried to sell my 450 S3 V2 2 months ago and I'm glad I didn't. The darn heli is such a great back yard flyer.

I don't know that the Pro head will fit the V2. Your on your own with that one. The "V3Upgrade" or the sport heads will fit. Don't want to see you get stuck.

As for the 4s I believe the stock motor and esc can handle the 4s. Not sure about the bec. I copied others who used the Jazz and scorpion motor. For a pinion I'd slap anything on there for the start and get an rmp reading. I run a 3500ish Kv Scorpion motor with a 12 tooth pinion. I started with a 10T and wanted more head speed. For me 4s on 3500Kv w/12T gives 3200isn Rpm at 90% throttle. It feels snappy at this level.
Love it.
If you have any questions just pm me or post it in here...

pro head works but you need the pro grips to go with it. pro head is also weaker the the V2 or v3 head.

you can run the 430xl on 4s and you will need a external BEC mandatory. 10T is probably your best bet

ok so i midas well get the sport head..seems like a easy replacement..where is this V3 upgrade head found?? is this a align part??

ill probably run a external bec on the stock V2 esc and see how that goes..if it burns up then ill get a new ESC..also my stock motor is rated 3550kv..so this should work ok on 4s with a 11 or 12t pinnion..

thanks for all the help!!

by the way my used V2 showed up today and i made a closer to CG battery bracket..balances out perfect and kinda looks like a mini 600 now!!haha.. should help bring some of the heavy weight closer to the main shaft

I did the TT mod to a V1 today, its not exactly plug and play lol

first i had spacers on my elev servo so I had perfectly straight ccpm action with the linkage arm. Those had to go. next i had to break the dremel out and take a little off the case of the 65mg and had to do some dremel work on the servo arm as well for clearence.

I use black allen screws so the chrome ones that came with the kit would not do. down to the bench grinder and i had to take 6 longer screws and grind them down to size and clean the threads up.

next my tail blade grips had the fireup weight mod done. the weight balls on the grips hit the linkage arm so i had to grind the stand off off of teh steel balls and then grind those 4 screws down as well for proper fit and clearance.

hours later, she ready to fly waiting for morning now.

main reason for upgrade is im getting some belt vibration at 3400rpm m trying to clean up. I may have to get the sport tail blade grips yet. test flight will let me know.

Thanks for the info. I'm sorry to hear you had so much labor setting that V1/V3TT up.

I also flew fireups chinese weight mod on my grips. Liked them a lot. I had seen the upgrade on the tail grips with the machined weights right on the grips and knew they were in the near future. I will be getting them soon. Very interesting that they did interfere with the new TT tail-case housing and associated parts.

I'm very anxious to hear of your test flights. Please check back in and let us know. Any photos? Love to see them.

Yoshgixxer,
Here are the links for this things you'll need. Be aware The "V3 Upgrade" term is used for your project. These items are also found for the sport and pro models and do vary slightly. Below are the exact links that I ordered from. The V3 Upgrade links are an upgrade to the head to replace the adjustable links that make setting up the head easier. They help with "swashplate height" and also help eliminating tracking issues. I Recommend them highly.

Here is the rotor head from Readyheli.com

Here are the V3 links that your will need to.
