Today I just upgraded my Se V2 to a V3 model. I installed both the Torque tube upgrade and the V3 hub in the head.

I have about 13 flights on her today and all I can say is wow! My ol Se V2 finally is an awesome machine. Align should have made this thing years ago. I left my 450 for 600 and 700 nitro machines and very seldom flew the 450. After my 450 not selling I gave her one more dose of "MONEY" and she is really stable now.

I think the V3 ub is the biggest bang for the buck.

I have searched on RR for more threads and havn't found too many. I found a thread with Micro-Maniac putting in some good words for the V3 upgrades. I've found him to be very knowledgeable with smaller helis and decided to go for it.
I'm just glad that I didn't spend the money and end up disappointed.

I can now fly again in my back yard this fall.

The torque tube is the best upgrade for the V2.

What does the V3 hub do for you, and what is involved with upgrading to it?

Thanks

i did it yesterday.

its a $26 upgraded head that is wider then the original. i had a copterx head and the balls do not go to the bottom of the blade grips and if you tighten to much you will snap the threads off. they break easy.

yes with this upgrade its far more stable then before and it is pretty much a must do mod.

now i do have another stock V2 and im leaving it alone because the wider head does compromise some of the quickness in the head. my stock V2 rolls on a dime compared to the V3 head.

with all that said I have both 450's set up identical when i meen identical i meen they are twins only the head is different. even the TX settings are the same. v2 is squirrely but man is it quick and the V3 is not anymore it has the big heli feel that is great. The V3 still fly's nimble and quick and rolls and flips well but your not getting the cake and ice cream no matter what you think as i have flown both back to back flights.

If you put a V-bar in it, the stock V2 will fly like a bigger heli despite having a faster roll rate.

The wider head block slows the roll rate? If the V2 were any more stable it wouldn't move..

So I have more noob questions.. Whats involved in switching, grips and spingle?

the best washout block and arms for the price are the pfmod set up at helidirect for $18. i have it on my V2

you have to be carefull when you say V3 because if you think pro it doesnt work.

you can use the whole sport head because the geometry is the same, as the mainshaft is the same as the V2. you cannot use the pro head correctly as the arms are the wrong length.

now there still is some confusion as 2 popular shops sell V2 mainshafts for the sport and 1 shop sells the pro mainshaft for the sport.

since the sport has much different washout arms im going with the fact it was designed for the V2 mainshaft.

Thanks for all the input guys.
I am confused about the Pro head. Can a full swap be done putting the Pro head on the Se V2 and would there be any advantages?

pro headblock will fit on, the rest of the head wont as it needs the longer mainshaft.

the only benifit of the pro head is that it bends in a crash easier, im not sure i would call that a real benifit

Is this the V3 upgrade that I could use on my V2? Is there anything else that I would need to buy (dampners etc.) or can I just get this and go. I have trublood dampners on the V2, will those fit the new head?

I noticed one is the 1296 and the other is the 1296A model that are the pro and sport respectively. Are they different?

That is the v3 upgrade rotor hub housing. Not sure what the difference is between the two.
The AH1296 is the one I ordered.

Another V3 upgrade is the Torque Tube. I think the rotor hub is the more important piece.

A tighter and more stable head for the stock 450 can be had for free. Ad a piece of that cheap clear fuel tubing you get with Sullivan tanks to the center of your feathering shaft then ad Trueblood dampers.

Tom the mod your talking about has little to do with the V3 mod and the flight charactoristics have comepletly changed with the new head. its more the wider head that has something to do with the stability and no adding 335's and your dampner stiffening method will not bring the same reslults.

just spend the $26 yourself and be amazed, i was

My point is simply I have flown a modded V2/V3 head block and Mine back to back and a stock V2 the next. I've noticed zero diff tween mine and the V3 head hence the free comment. Hey its your money, save it for the Sport or Pro

The sport block looks like it would take crash abuse better. Those look like good kits for the next time replacing parts in an older heli. I just wish they came in another color besides blue.

So this one is not blue, but what is the difference between this one and the head-blocks linked above?
