I agree with Entityofme about the hyper tail gear Ive been running them for a whole year they are awesome and a I ALSO dont want to rain on Ironhide's parade. But that has to be noisy in the air? And ive strip or melted many tail gears in the AIR "lots of hard reversing manuvers" and NEVER a crown gear.So for me I would rather have my shear point the crown. But Ironhide That crown looks to be a work of art and a Plus on the bling bling factor good work.

The aluminium crown gear does look nice, but i am doubtful it would work well with a metal takeoff gear, Kyosho did have aluminium gears for the C60 range but wore out really quickly, maybe using a delrin takeoff gear would be a good match.

I agree. There will have to be a give point somewhere. Delrin is a super hard plastic that is close to alum. If there is not a soft point to break then it is going to get expensive.

I'm waiting to send it out and get a black hard coat put on it . It will be put threw some testing after that .We have a batch at work going out soon !

At American Gear where the teeth were cut the guy couldn't understand why in the world the crown gear would be made out of delrin with a metal pinion in the first place .Didn't like it at all . And he didn't like the gear mesh either .He said , the pinion "teeth" do not engage 100% .And when you drive the pinion in to far the pinion will always want to drive over the crown gear . The New aluminum gear has full engagement with both gears meeting at the heel .

Someone brought up , it maybe noisy . Thats maybe why they went with a plastic gear . Like when the rock crusher came in the Corvette . It got its name for a reason , but owners complained of it being too noisy .

I perrsonally love the sound of a gear drive. Sounds like a blower..

So does that mean it will come with set up instructions and some marking compound?

I'm sure we can put something together !

All he told me to do was line up the heels and shim up the crown until you get .003 backlash on the pinion . Very easy . It rolls very true .

I also tighten up the hole on the main shaft when I turned the blank . So that might have something to do with it as well .

I'm working on a cheap plastic version as well . I'm looking to pour a silicone mold of the stock gear and pour black plastic gears out of a very similiar material to delrin . I've been talking to some resin guys . They are very confident !

I'd almost prefer a plastic CG, especially when running metal tail gears.
