Well I've got two gallons ran thru the Predator. Going to Colemans fuel with amsoil saberat 100:1. I've learned to hover tail in, right and left, starting forward flight and doing figure eights. This is a very stable heli. And just think I went from a 450 exi with 4 flight on it to the predator. Also flying a Logo 10 with 550's.

Is there any truth to the thought that colemans burns cooler than reg pump gas?
I am using amsoil 100:1 but acutally mixing it closer to 70:1

Cooler???

I really don't know if it runs cooler.... it is a lower octane... I think someone told me that it usually equal to about 60-70 octane...
Most of my running has been inside a fuselage, without any problems, and if you pull a plug to check it, they will be a nice brownish to tan color.....

There are a lot of differnent opinions, and lot smarter guys them me messing with these ratios, but I know what is working for me....and after 3 seasons, I am OK with my mix.....

Flame suit is ready to be put on if needed!!!!

Its an easy ride with a scale ship for the motor, hovering, some slow forward flight if you push yourself, and landing: whew and fantastic!

Don't worry I'm going to have a Great heliman there helping thought the whole process. If it works cool if not back to gas at least not at 25:1 like before. Doorman assures me there will be no problems He hasn't steered me wrong yet. I have full faith in him. If we burn it up I'm getting a 52 cc twin cylinder stroked with tunnel rams to replace it. LOL just having fun.

I know everything will work out right.

Jeff

will write back on monday of the results.

I really appreciate it when someone is willing to try something different. Otherwise we would all have exactly the same ship, and it would be the Wright Brothers biplane!

Hey Raja, I am glad you put that smiley at the end of that one!!!! I was going to loan you my "suit"!!!!

Actually, when you consider it, I think that the scalers, in some ways, put a worse load on the engine then a pod and boomer..... closed up inside the fuselage with a LOT less airflow.... usually much heavier and longer blades... I run 800+ on my scalers vs the norm 7-725mm used on p&b..... plus the weight of the scaler.... My Jet Ranger is 28 lbs wet.... so, I would say in both cases, the engines are really working pretty hard!!!!!

But I promise to keep an eye on Jeff's when we make the switch on Sunday to see how it works out....

Oh and the main reason that I use the Coleman is so that I get no smell of gasoline in the house!!! Nothing too technical about that.... and as for the mix... I just didn't feel like measuring the oil everytime I mixed a gallon and the Saber comes in a nice little packet that you tear off the tab, add it and go fly.... KISS principal has always worked well for me!!!!! And I still can't blow up that dammed weed wacker so I can go flying sooner!!!!

I have been using white gas and 100:1 mixed 65/1 for the past 4 years (after seeing thet guru Bill Meador uses it) in my Predator. I do not fly it scale like, but always fly pretty demanding 3D.

It has proven to work very well.

white gas vs Gas

Raja,

Oh my Changing to white all the problems we had. I wanted to pull MY HAIR OUT.

.............Sorry had to tease you alittle..........................

filled up tank fired up flew beautiful. then there came the problems after landing my Killer bee switch wouldn't shut the motor off riched the low screw up 1/32 and smooth sailing the rest of the day. But with the cost of coleman fuel it's cheap to me just to fly Gas but at 100:1. But the motor was very happy with the mix.

Want to Tell Doorman Special Thanks for all the help this guy gives all of his Students. Oh I mean ALL SIX STUDENTS at one time. He gives all all them including me full attention!!!!!

Jeff

Well good to hear!

Now the only remaining question is how long will the motor last! In other words can you fly it 100 hrs+ on this mix? Only time will tell. One day's worth of flying isn't going to prove anything yet, but keep a log of it and keep us informed.

You could come to PA funfly this weekend and bring Stan along too, I'm going there on Friday for 3 days of flying!!!
