Hey there,

I finally made it to get another Protos after my last one ended up being totalled due to a bec shutdown.

Now I wanted to go with the DS3517, not really the perfect fit, but after some trimming of the supports for the braces, it's all great and they fit just the way they are supposed to.

Now the manual recommends to go with 16mm servo horns, but they don't come with horns that size. Now I have tried to find these horns, but didn't really get lucky. Where can I find 16mm servo arms for JR servos? and then again, I need one for the tailservo (DS3500G) which needs 13.5mm according to the manual.

Thanks in advance
Florian

what length horns do the servos come with. If its off by 1 to 2 mm it's not really that big of a deal just play with the swash values to get the performance qualities you are looking for.

I just installed the 3517mg servos in a cf protos and used the servo arms from JR 8717 servos. They fit perfectly and give a little offset to help the ail and aux servos clear the frames perfectly. Also if you used the rubber pads and brass inserts there is no need to trim the servo mounts to fit the 3517 servos.

i ordered the dubro 674 as they are the only ones that i could find with 16mm and i got a 12mm and 13mm for the tail, so i can try to get the best one for my new g370 gyro.

Ok you guys win.. I tried on the 8717 arms on my 3517's and they worked perfect. I had originally thought the stock 3517 arms were ok, but I noticed on the bench that they were indeed rubbing against the frame when I moved the sticks. So I replaced them and the heli is flying great now. Also moved the tail servo ball in to about 8.5 mm and the tail is holding solid now with the 370/3500g

8.5 mm out on the 3500 tail servo is way too far in. Yes it will work but it is not ideal. I too am using a JR 3500 tail servo but with a spartan gyro. I have found that 13 mm is about ideal for protos tail geometry. This distance should give the best performance with good speed and resolution.

Does the 3500G use the same servo arms as the full size servos or do they have a smaller output shaft?

Thanks
