e-E-Sky Honey Bee- Lama- Belt CP- E-Smart > HBK2 - Stock pins don't fit in the Microheli washout set

The microheli washout set requires that you use the plastic arms from the stock washout. There is a pin holding each of these arms in place on the stock piece which you are supposed to remove and then pin into the CNC piece. The problem is, these pins don't fit into the holes on the CNC piece. I mean I can work them if I pushed them really hard, but they are supposed to be lose fitting so that the pin can slide in the hole in the CNC piece but fit snug into plastic of the arms. Has anyone else had this experience? I wanted to check before I go ahead and try to ream these brass holes in the washout. Since these holes act as bearing surfaces to the pins which do in fact move quite a bit, I am sure I am going to have to do a better job than just running a drill through them. Also if I make them too big, the slop will be terrible.

I'm sorry, what do you mean by phasing pins?

When you give a command to the heli to turn it happens 90 deg later, gyroscopic precession.

If you make these pin holes too large then it introduces slop in the system.

Now that same command may now happen sooner or later and you'll be playing catchup in the air and fighting the system.

Just be very prudent when enlargeing these holes or slots which ever they may be.

The stock King Head has enuf slop in it the way it is.

Why can't these mfgs provide radial arms with thier products? BTW, I was in the LHS recenty and noticed Eflight sells the radial arms for the B400 kit seperately. The B400 uses the same ball size as the HBK2/3. Not sure about the pin size. I meant to pick up a set and see if they fit on the Esky washout.

If they were, not that slopy plastic arms, but as G5 makes as upgrade or MH makes for Trex - ball bearings...

Edit: I spent quite a lot of time, shimming my plastic ones, getting rid of slope.

Be careful with the 450 sized radial arms on the HBK2. The stock arm lenghts are a few MM shorted than a typical 450 radial arm which pushes everything in the head up. I tried, unsuccessfully, to use the HDX 450 washout block with radial arms. There just wasn't enough vertical room in the head to absorb the longer radial arms.

That's the only reason I did not install them yet and keep shimming plastic ones and shrinking ball links there.

Helicopter34, what can you say about MH washout set, beside small holes? What's the verdict?

Washout

Besides the small holes, I guess it is a nice piece. It does fit through the upper two pins thankfully, I read that someone else's washout needed to be reamed for those holes. I guess I will be taking a trip to my schools machine show tommorrow. The shop doesn't have reamers that small so I will be forced to use a drillbit. Who knows what quality of hole it is going to leave.

Overall, I'm kind of annoyed at Microheli. The swash the I recieved was also messed up. There were big blemishes in the anodize and the bearings felt tight and a tad scratchy. I'm sending the swash back to Helidirect.

I'm not a fan of Microheli either. For upgrades, I prefer Xtreme, although they are not perfect either.

There is no Xtreme central hub.... The stuff which I am using from cnchelicopter is also not perfect. For example washout has quite of play. Maybe mine is getting old. Seesaw - no bearings and very prone to bent on crash, although it is $10 to replace, which is good.

Microheli

I just got an email back from Microheli and they are sending a replacement. My guess is the replacement will have the same problem, but who knows.

Update

The upper two pins do not in fact fit the washout either. I had test fitted it quickly with the head not actually on the shaft and it did slide through with sufficient clearance. However, once the head and the washout are on the main shaft, that extra constraint causes the pins to be too tight and the washout slides up and down only under considerable force. I will have to go ahead and some how ream out the holes.

I prefer this washout block and arms from Bell. Adds much needed strength when you increase the HBK2's power system.

Gregor - does that come ARF or only as a kit?

I'd hate to have to take all that apart just to check for Loctite...

That's one thing I don't like about MicroHeli products, they make sure nothing else work with their stuff.

Like swash plate, balls worn out, can't replace with anything else because they use different threads.

When I got their main gear for my cp2, they make sure that stock main shaft doesn't work with it.
