I'm seriously trying to make this... but I dont have anyone to ride with... and I'm not crazy towing that thing by myself.

Leave the anchor at home and drive down and stay in a motel like the rest of us.

Well folks its not looking good for me to make it. I am still getting my Sylphide setup. Its taken me 3 weeks to get the engine tuned.... it turned out that I had a bad regulator... so 3 weeks wasted. Then last weekend I finally got it put into it's body and am having a tail drift problem with my new 7000t gyro. I think I have it sorted out, but I havent even flown the damn thing in its body yet... let alone practiced with it....

So unless things change, I dont think I will be able to make it.

Joe,

Pull it out of the body or bring something else!

It's an unusual event to have a bunch of great pilots all working to help each other with the absence of a formal contest.

If you have anything that will fly, you will have a big benefit from the event to prepare you for the contest season.

Hope you make it.

Gordie; I'll miss being there too!

Tim

Tim,

Yea.. I cant pull it out of the body... Its all laid out for the body... I would have to move/remove a whole bunch of stuff. And since I have focused on my Sylphide for the last 6 weeks nothing else is ready....

I would rather spend the weekend getting my Sylphide in its body flying since I need to build another one in the coming weeks.... And the weather will go to **** out here soon....

Schedule

I haven't heard of one. We plan on getting there Friday afternoon and getting in a little practice. Whatever the schedule Saturday, we will just go with the flow. I plan on doing a lot of watching to see how everyone else is doing this stuff so I know how to practice. That's one reason I am disappointed that Tim can't make it, I can't see how he plans on working through this.

Schedule

Joey,

There's not any set schedule per say, but the field will be open on Friday. We will go through a few rounds on Saturday and Sunday morning before everyone makes the trip home. For FAI, this will be the first time we put together the new manuevers for a full round! For those that wish to try in the AMA classes, we'll have judges ready and happy to help/critique (we promise not to laugh, we'll be doing enough of that during our own rounds).

There will be 2 or 3 courses painted for hovering. The field is just big enough. I'll have rules and manuever sheets printed, so don't worry about that. Just come and enjoy.

Weather

Looks like this cold front is finally pushing through (been here all week). Tomorrow should be dry, but cloudy and turning colder. Saturday/Sunday look nice, but also chilly. Highs in the mid-50s. Bring warm clothes.

My plan for this event: Fly, talk, laugh, fly, talk, laugh, eat, wrench, repeat in no particular order. IOW, have a good time.

I'll see y'all Friday afternoon.

Ben,

You are being way too modest!

There is plenty of things you will do in addition to:

"Fly, talk, laugh, fly, talk, laugh, eat, wrench, repeat in no particular order"

Wish I could be there.

Tim

WooHoo

I had a really fun time, the only way it could have been better for me was if the weather had been just a fuzz warmer. Thanks to the Huntsville Heli Flyers for a great weekend.

I really enjoyed meeting and hanging out with you guys, even though the weather wasn't so great. Big thanks to HHF. Y'all have a nice facility there.
