Pin switches suck.

The novelty factor is cool for a little while, but soon you'll hate it. You'll misplace the pin, lose the pin.
They're not all that durable either.

The really hard part about those switches is finding a place to mount one. Don't mount it where you cant see it. It's not as easy as it sounds trying to stick the pin in the little hole when you cant see it.

I modified a standard switch to work with my Arizonas. So long pin switches forever!!

3 years is enough time wasted. Taking a break for a while.

I've been using them for a couple of years now and they work excellent. I drill a hole in the frame right behind the right front canopy mount. Putting it "outside" the canopy means you don't have to pull the pin when you take the canopy on and off. The great thing about the switch is that it's fail safe in the on position.

Jeff

Edit: Dood I've never misplaced a pin switch since running them.

To hover is divine, the alternative is rather PLANE.

Thanks

I have been running a pin and a standard switch in my N9's. I like the pin however it's true that you have to remember to put it in your pocket so you don't lose it.

I like the fail on redundancy as well.

I just mounted it where a reg switch would go. Cut off the bottom of one of those plastic containers and made a mount for it.

Real easy.

The same is true with a modified standard switch.

This is how I modify a standard switch for the Arizona in case you're interested.

I did my soldering outside of the switch. Granted it does not look as neat, but it works. And if it were to fail, the failsafe is "ON" as stated above with the Arizona. The switch is not the one with the failsafe, it is the regulator itself.

+2 on pin switches for me. I mount it in the stock location. I cut down the pin so i can take the canopy on and off. I also leave the pin in when using my canopy cover.

Arizona Pin-Flag switch works great and I couldn't live without it. I use them on all my nitro birds. Started with the N9 and got used to having it in the canopy hole position. So now my T-Rex 700 canopies (x3) all have holes in the same approximate location. Gallery = pics, or see below.

When I fly, I remove the pin and ALWAYS put the pin in my right pocket with the flag in the pocket and the pin sticking out. As soon as the engine is dead, the pin goes back in the heli. This way, I never leave my system on, and I have never lost a pin.

My only complaint is that my 3 pins rust/oxidize and I have to sand them regularly. When the pin is rusted, it will not short to turn the "switch" off. I've seen a buddy's heli with a "chrome" pin. Has Arizona re-worked their product? I'd love to get some of these!

I have one with a pin switch and one with a reg switch.

The pin switch is a pain.

That being said, I have made some adjustments to make things easier.

Main thing I did was drill a hole in the handle of my Tx to stick the pin in while flying. Never lose it that way.

I always power up on the bench, next to my flight box. Pin out, bird powered, pin in flight box, control check, start, carry out, fly. Back to the bench, pin in. Almost impossible to lose the pin, and never had one fail.

Myself, I *LIKE* the pin switch setup, and have never found a problem finding a good place to mount one. If all else fails, get the bracket from an old, dead, remote glow, and use it - the pin switch is the same size as a glow plug!

+4 on the pin switches.. i have them on all my nitro birds.. Love them. The best part is they cant accidentally be turned off (long story.. but this actually happened once by mistake when someone took my bird to bring it to the flightline)..
