I only have 2 batteiers through the copter and the tail moter is screaming, it gets much worse when you give it right rudder and goes away with left rudder. I ran a couple more batteries and it seamed it go away as the tail motor warms/heats up.

Any body else?
Any thoughts?

Throw some lube on it? Just an idea since someone talked about it in the last thread.

Remember it's going to get louder with different rudder inputs because its going faster or slower to compensate MRH torque. Check for anything loose on the leading or trailing edge of the blades as they have a tendency to cause funny sounds.

My two cents.

I need one of those to fly in my office. Tried to fly my .90 in there but man is my wife pissed now!

Hey -

I am now having the loud tail motor issue too.

I had a couple of decent crashes last night, and now it is loud and it seems like maybe the tail motor is not quite as powerful as it was before. I am having a hard time getting the heading to hold now, even with excessive trimming.

Any ideas guys?

Thanks

Try changing out the tail rotor blade just to see. It worked for me. I must have had a crash that bent the blades but I could not see the problem.

I'd like to upgrade mine with a better one but I don't know how to go about finding one that is electrically compatible.

I remember once changing the tail blade and it helped. I did notice a lot of end play in the motor shaft plus the output shaft is slightly bent. I have a brand new tail setup. I'll plug it in and see if it's shaft is bent too.

Make sure the end bell isn't popping out of the motor. we have had this happen. What we do is put a piece of heat shrink over the motor and the end bell and seems to help hold the end bell in place. When we do this we have no heat issues on the tail. Chuck

Using a skid nut from a 450 works well also.

For what its worth... just like every blade that came before it.... The tail motors do not last forever. My first one went out after about 150 cycles... I just plainly ran too many packs through it too fast. You have to allow the poor little motors to cool a little between batteries. Haven't had a problem since I started doing that.
