--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ok..lost my stock motor last night lower bearing screaming set it down just in time....I need some good advice on what to do next ....starting to feel like the blade 400 is another parts eater like the helimax product I owned ...another sad story lol.

OK, upgraded servoes to Hitec 65 carbonites ...guy at HS sold me a 5085 MG for a tail servo replacement..I have a JR 770 3D gyro.

I found some good advice in the blade bible .....alot of advice..

Hirobo web site had some good deals need some advice....

OK found thisCopterX (CX450-10-04) 430XL Brushless Motor (3550KV) [CX450-10-04]

26.95 good price?

Is this an ok motor I'm not paying 50.00 plus for another stock motor with weak lower bearings...I have crashed hard a few times so I won't blame all this on Eflight maybe this contributed to early failure..

Next the are offering a Copter-X metal tail and head for 40.00 is this a good way to go without any mods just need advice from someone who has installed ....is there a reason this setup is so cheap other than the economy is collapsing...lol

I want to get this heli vibration free so the tail doesn't drift when I bought it was magic many crashes later not so magic I like the heli but this motor burnt a winding when the bearing failed and its giving me flashbacks to my helimax that almost made me quit the hobby.

what is a rock solid not too exspensive choice for a tail servo? HS off the shelf that 50.00 servo only works in one direction after last hard crash wen tback to stock eflight until I get some direction..going to boom mount the servo.

I want a rock solid heli to fly and then eventually upgrade to something bigger do you align guys deal with the same issues as the blade or is this the product of just mnfg issues???

not bashing just being honest about getting what you pay for...

Thanks
Scott

Not a Mfg issue, seems most helis require alot of attention.

Regardless of brand or cost. And all you need to do is look at the post count in the Align forum, and you can get a good idea on how many issues Align owners have had. All helis have the potential to be a headache, especially if you don't stay on top of the maintenance. Your motor probably could have used some lubrication on the bearing where the shaft comes out. But mine did the same thing, which is how I learned that lesson, so don't sweat it to much.

I would stay away from the Copter-X upgrades if I was you. It seems that the parts develop slop fairly quickly, although I've never had any personal experience with them, just what I've heard. I went with all the E-Flite alu parts on mine, and the quality seems to be fairly high. Most of the other parts I've seen are just copies of the Trex parts.

As far as the motor, I went with a Hacker A20-6XL, and have been very happy with it. I have heard alot of good things about the Scorpion motors (2221-8) in this size heli, and both brands are reasonably priced.

I would stick with the brands that produce original designs, instead of reverse engineering knockoffs. Either way, a little Tri-lube on the bearings goes a long ways.

Good luck. You're on the same path I took. I'm building a Mikado Logo 400 right now.

The less a man makes a clarative statement, the less likely he is to look like a fool in retrospect.

+1 on the lube. The only time I've ever had motors go out is lack of lubrication. I'm horrible about it, but a little goes a long ways. If you're interested, keep an eye on my posts, I just bought a Turnigy E500 motor, which is a little bit bigger but has good reviews. I'm going to put it in my Guru, which is a slightly smaller heli. The motor is recommended for 450 size helis. If all goes well it might be a good replacement for you, they recommend 40A esc for it, but I've read that 20A's have supplied it.... your risk if you're interested. The motor itself is only 17 bucks though, 33 for the ESC built for it. Them chinese motors supposedly draw a bit of current!

I need one of those to fly in my office. Tried to fly my .90 in there but man is my wife pissed now!

I could consider selling my blade 400 as parts if you are interested in replacing your motor with another stock motor etc. The eflite stock motor is reasonably good and I have not seen my co-blade owners at my club having any issues with the motor.
