My Posts This: Topic Forum | Not a Mfg issue, seems most helis require alot of attention.Regardless of brand or cost. And all you need to do is look at the post count in the Align forum, and you can get a good idea on how many issues Align owners have had. All helis have the potential to be a headache, especially if you don't stay on top of the maintenance. Your motor probably could have used some lubrication on the bearing where the shaft comes out. But mine did the same thing, which is how I learned that lesson, so don't sweat it to much.
I would stay away from the Copter-X upgrades if I was you. It seems that the parts develop slop fairly quickly, although I've never had any personal experience with them, just what I've heard. I went with all the E-Flite alu parts on mine, and the quality seems to be fairly high. Most of the other parts I've seen are just copies of the Trex parts.
As far as the motor, I went with a Hacker A20-6XL, and have been very happy with it. I have heard alot of good things about the Scorpion motors (2221-8) in this size heli, and both brands are reasonably priced.
I would stick with the brands that produce original designs, instead of reverse engineering knockoffs. Either way, a little Tri-lube on the bearings goes a long ways.
Good luck. You're on the same path I took. I'm building a Mikado Logo 400 right now.
