My Posts This: Topic  Forum		Hey all, just thought I would share my first attempt at building an AP heli!
It is a Trex 600 streched to 700 running SAB red devil 710s
Flybarless using helicommand rigid.

Jive 80+HV
Xera 4030 3y motor
2x 6s zippy 5000mah for 12s flightpack
Perfect regualtor supplying 7.6v to the futaba BLS 451 cyclic servos running off a seperate 3s servo pack.
Futaba s9254 on the tail.
The 3s servo pack also supplies 6v to the camera mount servos via a 5a BEC and direct 12v to the camera downlink.

Custom machined main bearing blocks with thrust bearings sharing the load.
Custom machined tail pitch slider
Quick UK swash and tail grips
rotor tech 105 tail blades
RJX flybarless head

I am still testing but I just got 20 min hover time leaving 20% in the packs!(without the 5d2 camera) Pulling 11a in hover. The headspeed is still too high. I will try with a smaller pinion. I am hoping I can maintain that 20 mins with camera if I drop some headspeed.

Don't know AUW yet but I think it is about 6.5 kg with camera.
It flies very well. It had less vibes at the higher headspeed and i'm hoping I am in a natural frequency of vibration now because the whip antenna on the mount is vibrating slightly.
I guess I have now joined the endless search for vibration free camera mounts!
My biggest problem now is orientation! I can't tell which way its going so I must put some fluro on the front of the mount.

Edit:

The linkage rod between blade grip and swash, did you go for 60mm or 65mm? I remember RJX manual says one is for 50 size and the other is 90 size heli. Since this is almost same size as 90 did you set yours to 65mm?

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		Cheers...I believe it is 60mm. It's the ones that came with the RJX 50 head.
Don't know how far they are threaded into the links but it looks like 60.
When you get it flying I would appreciate your helicommand settings under the rigid tab to compare

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		Unfortunately I dismantle the stretched 600 before I could fly her with HC Rigid and flybarless setup. Victor from coptercams confirmed that CF-23 will be release this month or the next. Now I'm torn between getting it or going for MJ3DD. If I find time to put her up again I'll post my settings...hope you'll post yours too...

BTW i think the RJX kit is suppose to come with both linkage rod. I know I have 2 sets. I'll check it again

Do you think there is any need for a heat sink on the Jive or does it stay pretty cool?

Is your ESC fixed to the heli with velcro and cable ties or just cable ties? just curious as I wondering how to fix mine.

I will post some video from the 5d2 ASAP.

Lele, I have seen that thread but I don't think the follower could fail under what I will be doing. It looks pleany strong (maybe I got one of the new ones)

CRCR, I had a flat throttle curve of 90 to start but dropped it to 50 just to see how it would fly. Both times the Jive came down as cool as if it was sitting on the bench. I don't believe for this application it needs a heat sinc. As stated I'm pulling 11A in hover and the jive is good to 80A without a heat sinc
I have fixed it with velcro and zip ties. The ties make impressions in the soft case but I think they are necessary.

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		Just make sure you are not using an algn pinion on the motor, those will break under load, I have broken two already, get a steel pinion.

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		The roll axis still exists, it is now a pivot from the top using gravety to centre. The reason I did this is the way the 3x was initially flexed too much and created a sideways swaying motion that was hard to remove. It would have worked ok with a lighter camera but my 5d2 is almost 2 kgs with lens. My mod has removed the swaying but does not gravety level as well as I thought. A servo controlled roll is necessary for video in my opinion

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		I bought a 3X sometime ago and I am planning to put it on my stretched Logo 600. Also if I get things sorted out, I was planning to buy the new 7D....which is about the same weight as the 5D2.

So the third gimbal wasn't stiff enough to carry the weight of 5D? Do you think it would have made a difference if it was carbon or thicker G10?

My current mount uses gravity-leveling, but I havn't been able to get it to work real good for me either...
