I got the program loaded with no problems. The problem is loading the driver for the USB interface. The program loads two different drivers and neither will work.

Yes, I have the dreaded Vista Home Premium. I've searched for a driver through the JR site, but came up empty. Anyone have a solution?

No guarantees, but try this........

Shut down your system....... install the USB interface with Tx attached and then power up the computer system........

I had a DataSafe (similar to the Data Transfer) that would not work on XP unless I did the above.......

Give it a shot ..... it will cost you nothing but a few minutes....

Gave it a shot, but no dice.

Still waiting for JR to respond via their Help service.

BTW, it works fine in my laptop, but I want it to work on my main machine.

Hey Dave,

I am using it with Vista 32bit. Not sure if it works with 64bit Vista if that's what you have.

Make sure when you run the program and installer that you right click and "run as administrator"

That's what I had to do to make it work on my computer

Good luck

Alex,

I have the 64bit system. And yes, I did load and run as the Administrator. I think I'm screwed unless JR comes up with a new driver.

Try this.

From fellow team member Mike Lachowski.......

Vista Home 64-bit SP1 is probably disabling any unsigned device drivers. Try uninstalling, then reboot. Upon reboot tap F8 to get into advance boot options and choose "Disable Driver Signiture Enforcement" Now install the driver again. Just a guess based on some other device driver notes I've seen.

Didn't see an Option to turn that feature off.

This is what Windows Help says about Signed/Unsigned Drivers for 64bit.

Windows cannot install this driver software
Driver software that lacks a valid digital signature, or that was altered after it was signed, can't be installed on x64-based versions of Windows. As a result, you will only see this message if you are running an x64-based version of Windows.

If you see any of these messages when attempting to install driver software, you should visit your device manufacturer's support website to obtain digitally signed driver software for your device.

Hey Alex

Finally got it to work. Using the F8 key on my machine didn't access the Advanced Boot screen. I had to use the Tab key, then select Advanced Boot, then there was the option to turn it off.

Thanks for the PM. Your buddy helped me out, too.

I am having the same problem with Vista 64 bit. I have tried both the F8 key and the tab key and can't get into the menu that you guys did. Horizon did e mail me back and said they don't have the driver for Windows 64 bit systems. Going to keep trying. My desktop is 32 bit and it does at least work on that. I wanted it on my laptop and that is the 64 bit system. Chuck

Well I got into where I can disable driver signature enforcement and did disable it. Still won't load a driver. It says it can't find any drivers for my device. Looks like I will be using the desktop at least until or if JR comes out with a driver for 64 bit. Chuck

Chuck,

To load the new driver, do not let Windows look for the driver. Instead, select the option that lets YOU select the location. Make sure you chose the driver in the folder marked USBIOX64

well I got it to sort of work. when I disabled the driver signature and reinstaslled the program then I plugged in the USB. It never asked me to look for the driver. However, the program works and I transferred all the the models. I shut down the computer then restarted it and plugged the USB in. This time it let me slect the USB location, but wouldn't let me load it because it needed a signature. So apparently I need to disable the driver signature everytime I want to use the program. Or is there something else I can try? Thanks for all your help guys. Chuck

You use the 64 bit driver that came on the disk.

One you install the program, and then when it asks for the driver, dont browse to the CD, you want find the driver on the CD it self. Look below at the TEXT that I hightlited.

HOW TO INSTALL DRIVER
For Windows XP
1. Connect the PC DATA TRANSFER device to the PC.
* The next screen may not appear depending on the system setting of each PC.
If that is the case, proceed to Step 3.
2. The “Found New Hardware Wizard”
screen will appear. Check the box for
“No, not this time” and click the “Next” button.

* If the auto run function has been disabled at your PC, the
“Found New Hardware Wizard” screen does not appear automatically when the
PC DATA TRANSFER device is connected. In that case, start up manually in the
following manner.

Open “Device Manager.”
(1) Right-click “My Computer.”
(2) Click “Properties.”
(3) Click the “Hardware” tab in the “System Properties” screen.
(4) Click the “Device Manager” button.
When the “Device Manager” screen appears.
right-click “Other Devices” and select
“Scan for hardware changes.”
“Found New Hardware Wizard” will start up.
5
3. Check in the box for “Install from a list or
specifc location [Advanced]” and
click the “Next” button.
4. Confrm that there is a check mark in the box
for “Search for the best driver in these locations.
Check in the box for “Include this location in the
search” and click the “Browse …” button.
5. “Browse for Folder” appears. Opening the folders
in order of “My Computer,” “Local Disc(C,”
“Program Files,” “JR PROPO,” “PCDATAtransfer,”
and “Drivers,” select a “usbio” folder under the
“Drivers” folder and click the “OK” button

If you are using Windows XP x64 Edition or Windows Server 2003 x64 Edition,
select a “usbio x64” folder under the “Drivers” folder

This may not help, but maybe it will. But you probably already know this.

BTW, I just upgraded from Vista 64 bit to Windows 7 64 bit and have the same issue. JR is too cheap to get their drivers verified by Microsoft,,,, but then again,,,,Microsoft probably wants an arm and a leg for it.

USBIO Driver for Windows 7 (JR PC Data Transfer)

I have windows 7 x64 OS installed and ran into the same problem.

I have sent an e-mail to Thesycon to see if they will sell a single user copy of the USBIO Driver, but as of yet, have not heard back from them.

In the meantime, if you follow the link: http://www.thesycon.de/eng/usbio.shtml and go about 3/4 of the way down the page there is a free Demo version that you can download, install and use.

The only thing is that since it is a "Demo" version, it will only stay active for 4 hours, then to use it again, you must re-boot the computer.

In my case the 4 hour limit is just fine. I have used this driver several times, and have had no problems with it.
