Well, I have been parallel charging all of my flight pack batteries
and it works perfecty! I use small on board batts to keep weight to a min. Now with this charging method, I NEVER run out of charged flight batts! Thanks Chris, much appreciated!

I have a 208B charger. Do I need to somehow modify the balance boards in order to get this to work?

What balance board(s) do you have? If you have the JST-XH board then you are good to go just like in my video. The others may be different. I think, but have not tested, that the TP board is similar but you would need to test it first. I know the polyquest board won't allow for parallel connections like the JST-XH.

You can buy the balance boards at Progressiverc.com and a few other places.

Can you charge (2) 8s packs? Of course but it may not be practical. You would need to have the right connectors and the understanding of how to connect everything. Of course if they are large like yours then you would likely see little benefit even on the massively capable 208B. So I would suggest not worrying about that. If you are in a hurry then just charge them a little faster (the 208B can charge a 4250 at a tad bit over 2C, so that would take just under 30min).

Just a note, I saw you refer to the max amp and C rating both here and over at HF. These numbers are not helpful for charging, only discharging. The only numbers that matter are # of cells (8s in this case) and size (4250mAh in this case).

I've got the JST-XH board. I see exactly what you are doing in the video. This was very helpful. Thank you.

It depends on the packs you have.

C is simply the Ah minus the h. So a

2200mAh pack has a C = 2.2
5000mAh pack has a C = 5.0
3300mAh pack has a C = 3.3

Ok now that you know what C is, you can use it to find charge rates. 1C is just 1 times C, 2C is 2 times C, so

1C charge a 5000mAh = 1*C = 1*5.0 = 5A
2C charge a 5000mAh = 2*C = 2*5.0 = 10A

Understand?

As per Chris's recomendation, I made not only a five way main wire deans connector (like his) but also a five way balancer connector for TP or Hyp. balancers. Thanks again Chris. This is one of the most valuable things I've learned on RR.

My local hobby store had them. If yours doesn't they should be able to order them. Or you can get them anywhere Hyperion stuff is sold or whatever brand batts you have.

damn those 6s packs!!!

from reading on the suppliers website, I can only charge 1 6s1p.

are there any adapters allowing me to charge 2 6s1p XXXXmah, besides the hyperion DUO3 charger?

thanks

The 208B is capable of 20A, so if you have some 6S 5000mAh packs, you can theoretically charge 4 of them in parallel at 1C.

I have a hyperion 0606i. So, the question is, can i charge 2 6s1p XXXXmah in parallel with my hyperion 0606i charger?

and if yes, would i connect the wires accordingly to the power side to create a parellel circuit?

But, how do i connect the balance plugs since theres only 1 6s slot plug in my balance board?

really sucks having to plug and play 1 battery at a time, my charging time is ridiculous....takes 2.5 hours to charge 2 batteries, and god forbid i miss the BEEP BEEP BEEP of the charger

thanks

You'll need to build a balance lead wire harness with a few 6S balance plugs wired in parallel. You'll also need to build a main lead parallel harness. The number of packs you can charge in parallel depends on the overall amp capability of your charger.

I made these which are similar to Chris's. This will give you an idea
on how to do it. I put both Hyp. and TP adapters on the male balance plug.

Also in para.charg., two batts. over one you have to double your amps from the charger or double your charge time...

yeah, was watching the video...the easy part, for me, was the charging mAh....with 2x6s1p @ 5000mah would be 10000mah charge with cell type of 6s.

but, that damn balancing cable looks foreign to me

anyone have a decent link for balance cable layout? I am lost, because theres only 1 red wire and numerous black wires in balance cables.

thanks,

G
