My Posts This: Topic Forum | Oh, a shame the servos didn't fit in the end. Well, at least you had some others to use. Just as a side note, my S9252 went in "quite" fine (I had to mill one of the aluminium spacers for the "elevator" servo to fit, but I think this is the case for any servo, the spacer is just to close).
About the overall quality, I must admit that the overall purchase to build process left me a kind of mild feeling for my 620SE. Initial delivery was slow (stuck in customs, partly at least because the invoice wasn't right), there were some missing parts (so I had to pre-build everything to list the missing parts), then I waited some time for the missing parts, then I had to "unbuild" quite a lot to put the missing parts in (specially the A-Arm), then I rebuilt and came across some issues (needed a vice to get bearings in place, needed to dremel a spacer for the elevator servo, sanding the gyro/receiver tray, getting the screws in the motor, grinding the guide pins, and probably more I can't remember, …). I also have the quite annoying CG problem (even with my 6S pushed as far forward as possible). Oh, and also, the really annoying problems with the linkage lengths (I couldn't use the rods from the kit, they were just too long), I spent ages messing around trying to get this right (the manual was just wrong). Also, the manual is short for a new comer to the Swift
However, on positive side:
- Now the heli is flying it's really great. For now I'm 100% satisfied with it (and the CG problem doesn't seem to disturb it much)
- My FG canopy seems pretty strong to me (I've had no problem yet). It's a little hard to put on and off, but nothing abnormal I think
- I find the overall quality OK, nothing exceptional, but OK (just there seems to be a bit of slop in the CNC swashplate, I'll compare with the TREX 600 ESP one to see)
- Century make no hassle at all about sending missing parts or helping over the phone
In conclusion, I agree the overall quality of the kit could be improved (specially missing parts, although Century makes no hassle about sending them), and it is a kit for "modellers", it takes some building (vice, sand paper, drilling, dremelling, …). It reminds me of old Vario helicopters. It's true that given the age of the kit you could except that things would have been fixed by now.
But right now, all this is passed, and has been nevertheless quite fun (I like modelling, I'll never buy a PlugAndPlay kit). This lunch time I'm of for another great flight with the 620SE (maybe try to get some inverted flying in today)!
Like to hear how you're one flies!
PS added after luch time test flight : The flight this lunch time went fine and I did get some inverted in. It rolls/flips really quick and straight. I'm quickly buiding confidence in this heli and should soon be doing all I can (i.e. mildish 3D). |
