I am starting this project and have most of the parts already
should be getting my heli on Tuesday

I purchased the following
Scorpian 4025-1100 KV 2200 watt motor
electron 80-100 ESC
9T pinion
6S1p 25C 4000 mah Rhino
CY solid-g
for now Futaba S3004 servo's on cyclic and a 9257 on the tail
It will be using 550mm CF blades

I will try to post pics of the build
and I hope to get something on video of the completed set-up

If it works as well as the 4S set-up I had on a Trex450 it should be something wicked!!!

BTW Ravenhyper50 is the new owner of the 450 which I traded for a Swift 550 with alot of cnc upgrades that I plan on scavenging parts from to build this unique Heli.

The Scorpion 4025 series are very powerful and efficient motors. I would recommend the 4900/5000 MAH instead of the 4000 MAH.

I have weighed all the parts
and the RTF weight should be 2676 grams or 5.894 lbs
the max HP output of motor is 2.94 HP or 2200 watts

which = 2.00lbs/1 HP

is 1 hp / 2 lbs enough

hmmmm I might have to start racing instead of

Yes I run 6S 3800 and 3700 MAH batts on the same set up give or take.
I run the century HV speedo 1100KV century motor and 9T pinion

I ran on 560 and settled on 520 blades for flight time. Disc loading was still a floater with 520.

Power out the whazoo ! for sure. The scorpion will be even more efficient so 4000 MAH is nice

I used to fly 5000 but I like the lighter weight. and the batts do not even get warm. With the 560 I could get them hot but I was pulling some big amps.

Oh I run airplane mode at 100 across the board in idle up.

Yes I have had very good luck with them. I tested a few of the models early on and never had a problem. I like airplane mode myself but if you run gov mode run no lower than 80% preferably more like 90%. Below that makes it switch and would be prone to burning it out.

I run 100% on a 9T with plastic head no problem.

Sneak peak Build pics

Don't mind the mess it's not usualy under construction

I would love to say the build is easy going and straight forward

BUT I can't

I won't go into specifics as this is turning into a real builders challenge!!!
And it's a good thing I enjoy this kind of challenge
Aside from the odd missing part and slight variations in the details
I have to say Century stepped up to the plate and sent all the parts required to complete the build

I think I need a larger Battery
.

Or a larger Motor
.

Not bad for Rattle cans
Toyota sunrise yellow and 3 coats of clear
...
Lots of Xtra parts lying around
Had a 620SE and a 550 for those special parts

Good eye I was wondering if anyone would notice
my wife thought I F-up till I explained it

I started with the white canopy
sanded the seams then applied Mastic, sanded and applied 2 coats of grey primer
sanded some more, 2 coats of base color then wet sanded then another 2-3 coats of base, while the base is still soft almost tac free I started applying the clear after 3 coats of clear I put in direct sun light for an hour (heat) then I let dry in a cool area of the house.

in the pics it is dirty from the finger prints and decal set

I am almost afraid to wax it, It may blind me when flying

Like I said it looks really good....

At the moment I kind of prefer the plastic canopy and I'm going to use magnets on the windsheild for easier battery access as I'm placing the batteries top side.

It Will be completed !

Someday soon I am hoping
Just waiting on a few critical pieces for completion

I could cheat and use my 620 se parts to finish it but I want this 1 to be all 550 and not another Frankenstein

Does anyone have a coupon code for Heli world ?

Still waiting for parts

Still waiting for parts
Servos that is
I decided to go with a better servos for this build
since it is going to be overpowered a few things have to be heavy duty
I bought what I consider mid price mid quality servos
they are HS-635 KG Hitec for cyclic ~30$ each 83oz 0.15 @6V

I have been trying different landing gear
the Hawk Was too low
The stock LG looks bow legged
the 620se LG looks better but is narrow and tall

Is there a different LG that would give the ground clearance and wider stance

this has got to be the slowest build ever

finaly got a plastic canopy and the right sized batteries for it
I'm just waiting on the servos now. hope I get them this week

I'm not to impressed by its weight though

2945 grams / 6.48 lbs
it's about 2.25 lbs per HP

I hope the 550 blades are big enough

I had to lose the BEC and use a 4.8V pack to balance it

Why is this thing SO tail heavy, I can't imagine it on a 4S or a 5S

Cut the rest of the bottom off. Keep just the sides. It does not change the look of the heli. This allows the battery to move farther forward. . Here is an old pic. I have 3 canopies trimmed like this. I no longer fly those bats, by the way. But, they flew for 20 minutes.

Looking good. Tail heavy for sure. On my 620SE I've got everyhting as far front as I could but it's still slightly tail heavy and I might end up going for a 4.8V NiCd for the RX as well (I haven't painted the canopy yet).

For LG, what about the 620SE Tuff Landing Gear (I have it and it seems quite stable, it does look a little high all the same).

I'm sure I beat you at the slowest build ever contest... just read my "build thread" to see how bad it can get.

Good luck!

Thanks I feel better now

My servos are coming but not this week

I can't wait to see what my flight times are

I won't be using the FG canopy that came with it
the style of canopy doesn't lend itself well to this application
the fg canopy is eggshell brittle, I cracked mine trying to remove it the first time.
it will look good on the shelf at least

Century should either change the style of FG canopy or at reinforce the upper rear portion.
