I had to join RR to share this, I'm sure it will get some chuckles. I picked up a Blade 400 a couple of weeks ago and am finally getting the hang of it(still very much the novice). I was on my 5th battery, starting to get nice solid hovers and playing with FF and bringing it back to me. Well, getting close to the end of flight time so I start heading back to where all my kit is stored and ....WUMPH!!!
I see a blade go flying and my poor baby heading to the ground in a hurry. My first thought was the li-po blew. The fiberglass blade broke off at the grip! Haven't hit anything with them, no wobbling or any sign of trouble, just here one second and gone the next. The guys at the LHS just shook their heads and laughed. Said they hadn't seen that since the days of glue together woodies.

Well, that's my first post. Many more crash reports to come!

Great story and welcome to RR! You may want to try the align woody blades instead of fiberglass. They break apart in a crash often times saving your boom. Not to mention they don't magically blow apart

I put the fun in dysFUNctional :)

Thank you for the advice & welcome

I picked up a set of the E-flite woodies as I wanted to get it back in the air tomorrow but of course, I found a crack in the anti-rotation bracket after the LHS closed & they are not open on Sundays
All in all (dumb thumbs not counting) this bird is much easier than the CP that I bought as a "trainer" on the advice of a shop that I no longer visit!
Believe it or not, didn't have a boom strike but the boom did bend about 30 degrees where it slots into the fuse.
Short of freak occurrences, I think I've got it controlled enough to paint the canopy & christen her now. Will post pics later of the unintended contact with concrete.
