Tested my stretched 700E with on board video and down link. All the flying was done looking over my video glasses but the video was good. One problem I have is the recv tuning is to sensitive and its easy to lose video which would be a no-no for total FPV flying. Any body have suggestions for a 900 Mhz receiver that will hold tuning ?

What antenna do you use for your video receiver? Have you tried a directional antenna? Using one might require a buddy pointing it to the heli at all times, but should improve your video signal substantially.

Not that I do any downlink from the heli (I don't), but I know of one operator using a directional Yagi antenna at the receiver end, to downlink video from blimps.

I bought a recv and xmit 900 mhz combo that is 4 channel selectable, to tuning required. Works great. The ant is still a simple short whip, my range isn't that far just yet, but I'll keep in mind a dirctional for the recv end..

My current FPV setup. I don't yet fly FPV but the grandkids sure love wearing the glasses while I'm flying.

I think you would get a better range and no dropouts if you would instal the VTx behind the camera under the frames and point the antenna down.If the LG is tall enough to allow it.
And keep the VRx antenna pointed up.
This way you should have better reception and only when you fly directly above you the signal will deteriorate but if you dont hover there you shouldn't lose it altogether.
I think the frames block the video signal in some orientations as you have it installed now.
Because i'm using a longer antenna and the camera mount is too low i'm using a servo to tilt it down when i'm airborne.
The battery strapped to the mount is just a dummy weight.

Yes, currently the xmit is not in the optimum position I will use your suggestion when I get ready to truly try FPV with a backup trainer connection and a good pilot.
