sorry guys

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r1gDHpLghdU

I am not pleased at all on the video quality and may just re do the whole encoding, but its late and I need some sleep. Its from a Cannon Hv20. The interlacing it harsh and the encoder from Adobe did a poor job. I tried the Windows media player, but the quality was 320x240 and worse. I hope the numbers are clear on each flight. The first one It shows it climbing to 218. The second one it shows maybe only a couple degress as I walked up to it.

I am running 11.0 degrees of pitch on top and bottom at 1850 on the head. With the 6.785 gears and these Sab blades you can hear the high G manuvers really add a suprising amount of load to the engine. I am going to lower the max collective just a tad. Maybe 10.7 degrees instead.

Temps where 72 degrees and pretty low humidity.

I'll keep it short

Wally, stop bending the truth. Cut it out, you're pissing me off. If you got something to talk about, call me.

Cody, thanks for the video. If I may please ask:

#1, fly longer than 1 minute, its not enough time to warm up the engine. In my tests I flew just about an entire flight, if you're going to keep it short then fly for at least 3 to 5 minutes to make sure everything warmed up to operating temp including the muffler.

#2, shut the motor off before taking a reading. With my Spectra with the hot air blowing on the temp gun I found I couldn't get an accurate reading with the motor running. If you want to do apples to apples comparison, shut the motor off as all my readings and numbers were taking with the motor off.

Redo the video and lets see what you end up with and thanks!

What is good about this topic is it consists of folks doing it for real and reporting rather than sitting at home theorising. I like that, but don't let's all fall out about it, a good banging heads together will probably give us noobies better facts and figures and ideas what to do.

Keep up the good work all of you!

I know it's probably very simple and yes it's explained here plenty of times, but a video of how to take engine temperatures could be helpful. Then maybe more of us can go out there, post our set up and our own results all doing exactly the same...

Temps

What about adding identical atmospheric conditions, temps humidity to keep the tests scientific, wont this make a difference as well or is it just me.How hot is Spain these days Better add identical helicopters and engines/ equipment and pilot as well .Might have missed out something .Please feel free to contribute

I know its not going to be accurate data, but we get to see how we should do it and we can state what we are flying and where.

No matter where we fly, what the temperature is or what equipment we use there are operating temperatures we need to try and keep within and collective data would be better than the odd couple of people supplying it...

...how hot is it in Southern Spain, too hot for me to go flying!

Nice video Cody. I agree that you need to fly longer between temperature readings. Figure 8's are nice, but maybe you could do some 3D stuff (and throw in a tic-toc or two) between temperature readings? I'd like to see how the Wally motor performs in addition to seeing how the Wally fan cools.

yea

I agree fly longer. I had flown a little before those clips to warm up the engine to operating temp. Next time I will do tick tocks on the deck and just set it down. This manuver really reams the motor out and I need to practice them anyway as I have not done any all year so it might not be the best you have seen. I will kill the motor in the air after the last tock.

[quote]Wally, stop bending the truth. Cut it out, you're pissing me off. If you got something to talk about, call me.
YOU GETTING PI-ED OFF, WHAT ABOUT AMA AT THE SHOW!
What I learned about Raja, And I do not respond well to threats!!!

I said you were vain and a danger flying. I have to say AMA agrees with me. at the show , ok I met Raja, this what I learned. Raja came by the rv camp we talked and drank beer I let drive my motor bike and had laughs, this does not make you my friend, But that's how it start, honesty is the only way you can get close to me, You went flying about 3/4 of a block behind the camp where they had set up cone for pilots to fly and you had a space, You flew 90% to that on the corner, then you flew your way over the hole sky, What you seem not to care about was there a few younger guy you were flying in there space. so the had to pull in so not to crash you just took over, as I walk up one ask me whats wrong with at guy, the time I did not understand, because I was enjoying the way Raja flies, but he something that did not ring a bell to later, He said if he does not stop I was going to crash him. I got a little mad at that a said If you have problem he had better go call Th AMA, he said for me to stick were the sun doesnt shine, or real close to that, does that ring any bells on any poor Raja post, Just then a guy came up and told us Raja was to stop flying over the rv camp and had everyone scared for their kids, he didn't stop until Larry told him again to stop, later he took out his electric heli to fly at night, Again I was wishing I could do that, and watched a great show, Then I think he recharged I just was work to get my heli going we were working with flash light, A little later I saw the heli flying again on the other side of my RV, just above, Inside the rv camp, I hear someone look he's landing on a golf cart, there were people all around just watching the show it was great, Raja did not have 2.4GHz,. In the morning, Cody and my son Shane took off to the main show, I stood to work on my heli and moved everything in side. the sun was killing me. A guy from AMA came by and asked If it was me flying at night, I said no, I only fly Gasser's and I did not know whow I it was. I ask why? He said people were bitching about it. because of how close he was to people and people were working on their heli and a cross radio could of happen, I thought I did even think of that. but I do not fly at AMA sites, Then the big one, while on front line with Bill spotting, another flyer accidentally went in Raja's space. I stead of calling AMA he decided to show who's boss, and went into the other space right in front of the other guy, (How long have you been flying now Raja at shows??) (Is this one of those thing you done for ten year and never a problem with!), Then the number 2 guy in charge got mad and told Raja one more time he's gone. If he knew the other stuff He would of been gone. That's why I called you vain and dangerous, And it's almost cancels out all the good you have given the hobby, And remember this the next thing you go to bash someone about a post, or warn someone your getting PED_ OFF, YOU WILL NEVER HONE UP THE 27CC,[

I FEEL I HAVE TAKEN THIS TO FAR, BUT EVERYTHING IS THE TRUTH, SO I WILL NOT BE POSTING FOR A WHILE, THANKS FOR THE SUPPORT ON THE ENGINES, WALLY

Wally please don't stop posting, your posts are of value here as are Raja's, both of you would be missed and while you may never kiss and make up, maybe you can agree to disagree and move on...

Most of us only know you guys through the forums, other s**t has obviously gone on, but please sort it out and don't leave us noobies without honest, expert opinion...

I don't think we need a Wally/Raja feud over something which really doesn't matter all that much. Can the two of you please talk on the phone this afternoon and find some way to be friends again? There is not enough people in the gasser community to afford a split. I don't want it to be where we all end up having to take sides between the Wally camp and the Raja camp.

Wally, don't stop posting, OK?

We all have a right to say what we think--but let's try and keep it above the belt and be respectful so that nobody gets their feelings hurt and leaves the forum. It is hard enough trying to be one of the few people in my town (or apparently in my state) who owns a gasser helicopter.

Wow Wally, I'm surprised at you

First of all Wally, threats? Who threatened you? When I said cut it out your pissing me off by bending the truth that was a threat in your books? Well you're continuing on the same truth bending road here...,let me explain to the rest:

So they had cones, L shaped where you could fly. I was at the corner cone, and there was a guy flying to my left and a guy flying behind me to my right. I flew my helicopter on a diagonal far out doing FAI manuevers. The guy to my right behind me was doing some hovering and close in stuff, some autos as well if I remember right. I stayed far and away and I had no idea he was not happy with the space I was flying in and told you he was going to crash me. If he had an issue he should have come and talked with me directly. If its a problem let me know and I'll gladly fix it, instead of getting pissed and telling someone else you're going to crash the guy.

As far as the tailers, I was standing in line with the last of them and they were far off in the distance, what 3/4 block as you said, to my right. I was flying on a diagonal and never flew over any campers. I flew up to the far right end and back doing the FAI stuff and when I did that I was by the trees near the road. If you were at the campers looking in that direction sure I was off the distance there seen in line with them, but never over them. Anyway, someone complained, and then I cut my diagonal line half way out to my right and fixed it. So what, was that really bad? Wally you were flying your gasser right behind your camper pushing full throttle climbouts not even 100 feet from the next trailer next to you. Do you think for a moment that could have been worse, especially since you're not such a good flyer and you were having issues with your helicopter?

So I landed on a golf cart roof that was on the back road with no-one around or in it with my little 450 and I was using 72Mhz. So what? I admit it, it was cute, people loved it and I'm not ashamed of that.

I flew only 1 flight with my little 450. There were people night flying all around the camp site with larger nitros in all directions and some where flying over the camp grounds as we saw. Maybe that guy was asking you about one of those guys, and I don't believe people would have complained about the little 450 flying in the back.

Oh here we go, the "big one". First off you weren't there but must have heard some tidbits about it from Bill as gossip. You want the details, I'll GLADLY share them. The guy flying to my left was constantly flying into my space. In fact on his first infraction, we almost had a midair and I had to power up full throttle and pull back to get away from him. Scared the siht out of me, and I figured it was accidental. Then after that he came back into my airspace at least 3 other times, two of which he actually flew PAST my center post where I was standing to my right before turning back. I yelled over there "stay on your side" but I don't think anybody heard me. About the 4th time he came over I casually followed him out of my airspace and into his before turning back to bring it to his attention that he was flying in the wrong area. After that I heard him yell Chris and he didn't come over any more and the announcer came over and yelled at me for going over into his space like Bill said. I told him what was happening and it was good that someone came over so I could get my point across. In any case he didn't see the other guy almost hit me and come into my airspace several times, so he was more mad at me than understanding.

After that flight I went and found the guy who was flying to my left to talk about this. Turns out he hadn't flown in 5 months time and was very nervous at the flight line. I asked him and he did see that we had a near miss but he was keeping his eyes on his helicopter hence why he was coming into my space. He said Chris Bergen did come to him and told him to stay on his side. I told him I was happy that nothing happened and that we escaped the mid-air, and I understood where he was coming from. I told him the reason I went after him on his last encoachment into my space was to bring it to his attention as he was repeatedly doing it. In any case he was a real nice guy and both of us were absolutely OK with things and shook hands as gentlemen.

Billme, you were there and you saw all this happen except for me talking with the pilot. You need to reply and verify what I said above not because you're doing me a favor but because its the truth and Wally is talking like I'm doing things to show people "who's boss". I'll PM you so you can reply here. If you don't then I'll know where you stand. Do the right thing.

Wally, go build these engines. People have been waiting for them for a long time.

I'm glad i didn't come read this post first, after receiving your PM Raja..

I want you to copy and paste on here the whole message and what I told you on the PM..

I asked you both not to include me on this, yet you accuse me of gossip...Behind you and me were hundreds of people at that flight line..People ask me about it as I walked away.. What do you expect?

Yes the man in SHOW CENTER was in your airspace. but Tell the folks here now what I told you as soon as you followed him back to show center while I was spotting for you? Tell them!

Your acting like Bret Walker was coming over for a Casual talk..At that time I didn't know you had problems with the IRCHA echelon...This man was nearly screaming he was so mad..The people heard this..It wasn't like we were in a bubble, and no one noticed..

Post our PM that we had.......
