RTF review

my first flight when I hit the low voltage cutoff it dropped to the ground under power and proceeded to chicken dance, had the throttle stick all the way down. moved back up and down again several times, still dancing. Picked it up and pulled the battery to get it to stop.
60 seconds into the second flight it gets close to a window to I kill it and let it drop to the ground(3ft). On take off there is no elevator control. Further inspection shows the wheel on the servo has some smashed teeth. 30 minutes with an exacto straightening the teeth get it going again.
Flight 3 and 4 are uneventfull.

The tail is too fast on the stock controller for me, I am in high rates, makes flying precise backwards figure 8's a challenge. You can also get the tail to blow out pretty easy. The cyclic speed seems just right.

This is more like a mcx on steriods than a true single rotor heli. Its self stabilization gets in the way a little bit when you let off the sticks all it does it pitch up and try to hover again with a little toliet bowl effect inbetween. The good news is the rotors dont hit and knock it out of the sky like the mcx
I give it an 8/10 as its great for new to average heli pilots but leaves the advanced guys wanting a little more.

The new charger is awesome, no more AA shenanigans. w00t

Doh! Turns out, my LHS has the RTF and BNF versions of the mSR in stock right now! I was just in there, but didn't pick one up, as mine is already being shipped from Horizon. I hope you guys are having fun with them. Please feel free to post up any wrecks if they happen, and happy flying.

30 Crashes Later

I don't know how many crashes actually but more than a handful or two But I do have easily 30+ flights though, it's awesome to have a 4 port charger!! So far no damage at all. It's really cool how if you lightly bump the rotors into the wall it will just bounce off instead of doing the death tumble

Tonight was the first time I got to fly it outside. Once you get it going it takes a moment for it to respond to a flight change, also the tail will blow out easily. As living room flier it's great, for outdoors it could use a little more tweaking.

IT'S ARRIVED !!!

I received my mSR today via FedEX from Horizon. Flew a battery immediately on my lunch break, and went full speed across the house. I couldn't slow down fast enough, and bashed it right into the wall at almost full speed. NO DAMAGE !!! Woot! This thing rocks! I can't wait to fly it outside tomorrow. I should have some pics and a vid or 2 of it flying around. We'll see what happens

Flew inside & OUTSIDE !!!

Out of the box, this thing flies like crazy. It has so much more speed than the mCX did. It does have somewhat a slow table when flying outside, but it definitely holds it's own. I flew it outside this morning in about an 18 mph wind with 25mph gusts, and it stayed up and in place the whole time.

I did end up nose-diving it a couple times in the ground by giving it .... TOO MUCH FORWARD PITCH! I couldn't believe it. lol. Since it was so windy outside, I decided to try to do a wind-forced loop, but was only able to make it barely upside-down, before it turned on it's side and leveled itself back out.

arg! anyway... don't try going full speed in the house.. the first time i tried it, it flew all the way across my house and straight into the wall at almost full speed. I tried to pull back, but the forward/aft pitch is a little slow. It bounced off the wall and landed on my couch with no problem.

I did put it into walls, the grass, and my carpet about a total of 22 times or so (mainly outside trying things), and it's still in excellent condition. Not even a scratched canopy. I forgot my vidcam this morning, but I will definitely have it my next time out and have it on film (cough cough..digital media). It's definitely going to be a very capable heli, once you get used to it, just like any heli. Hope this helps and feel free to post pics of your mSR's when you have them and flying.

Hi
brought my BnF mSR home from the LHS today , and just got a chance to mess with it , there were instructions on how to bind it with my DX7 but no info on how to setup the TX to control the mSR , so i bit the bullet and sellected a blank model memory , set the name to mSR heli , and left all the rest of the settings at default , then i followed the instructions for binding the two together

then i gingerly tried each function , aileron moved one servo , and elevator moved the other , so far so good , added a little throttle and the main blades started to spin , and with the mains spinning at about 1/8 throttle i tried some rudder and that seemed to be working too

took it into the living room and gave it throttle , the little bugger rose off the floor into a nice stable hover , and sure enough , right was right , and left was left , the yaw yawed and the throttle throttled

this has to have been about the easiest and nicest flying little machine i have had the honor of messing with , good work E-flite
this is a sweet little machine , flies right out of the box and flies well , cheers

If you are going forward, it holds great. I think it is just because it weathervanes on forward flight. Backward, not so much. It holds ok if you are going slowly, but if you give it some go, it pirouettes out.
